The 59th Grammy Awards crowned a number of producers for the first time. After incontrovertibly making their transition into mainstream success in 2016, The Chainsmokers took home their first Grammy for the Daya-assisted “Don’t Let Me Down” in the Best Dance Recording category. Flume claimed his inaugural Grammy victory for his sophomore album, Skin, which won Best Dance/Electronic Album after sweeping the ARIAs in 2016. RAC won in the Best Remixed Recording category for his remix of Bob Moses‘ “Tearing Me Up,” marking the first win for the Portuguese producer.

Outside of the electronic realm, some of the biggest winners included Adele (Record of the Year/Album of the Year/Song of the Year/Best Pop Solo Performance/Best Pop Vocal Album), Beyoncé (Best Urban Contemporary Album/Best Music Video), and Chance The Rapper (Best New Artist/Best Rap Album/Best Rap Performance). David Bowie posthumously received his first-ever Grammys, winning five in total for Blackstar and its titular song. The Chainsmokers accepted Best Rock Song for “Blackstar” on Bowie’s behalf.
