The Hot 25: April 7, 2017

The Hot 25 (formerly known as The DA Hot 25) is the definitive playlist series running through dance music culture and hand-delivering you with the essential tracks of the week. Whether it’s the hottest or quickest trending tracks, brand new music from your favorite artists, or songs from the unknown that should be landing on your radar, Dancing Astronaut brings you 25 carefully selected records that reflect what’s happening in our world.

This week’s playlist features genre-breaking offerings from Gorillaz, Baauer, and Dillon Francis; crossover remixes from Tiësto, Gryffin, and NGHTMRE; and an album of new content from The Chainsmokers. Additionally, we’ve provided our top picks from within The Hot 25, highlighting two standout tracks.

The Heat of the Week: Gorillaz – Let Me Out (feat. Mavis Staples & Pusha T)

Humanz, the forthcoming Gorillaz album, has thus far consisted of a wide range of all-star collaborations with some of music’s most credible acts, including Vince Staples, D.R.A.M., and Pusha T. “Let Me Out” may be the animated group’s strongest piece to see the light of day from the LP, as they find a perfect middle ground between urban and electronic music with Pusha T and Mavis Staples delivering strongly on the vocal front.

The Breakout Select: Flume & KUČKA – Numb & Getting Colder (Baauer Remix)

Flume’s Skin was one of 2016’s most groundbreaking albums, and the remixes which followed from acts like Disclosure and Illenium have certainly elongated its lifespan. In the LP’s most recent collection of official remixes, Baauer’s take on “Numb & Getting Colder” certainly is a contender for being the strongest component of the pack.
