Zelda’s iconic music gets analog synth makeover

Legendary series “The Legend Of Zelda” is widely regarded as one of the most iconic video games of all time. The various chapters in the saga have spanned over 3 decades and has sold more than 75 million copies through 19 different editions.

The series has some of the video game world’s most widely recognizable soundtracks as well, courtesy of legendary Japanese composer Koji Kondo.  These soundtracks have also been remixed by notable DJs such Hardwell and Zedd.

Will Patterson, the latest musician to re-imagine Zelda’s musical identity, however, decided to do things slightly differently. Patterson recently released Switched On: A Link To The Past, the first installment in his series that re-imagines the classic 16-bit sounds of the Super Nintendo with analog synthesizers.

The 9 track compilation features some of the game’s most famous themes and melodies. Check them out below.
