Dancing Astronaut's Guide to 2017 Movement Afterparties

Every Memorial Day Weekend, the global dance music community flocks to the birthplace of techno for one of the most revered festivals in dance: Movement. Although the festival has gone through a number of incarnations since its inception, the quality and curation has always remained top notch, with the good folks over at Paxahau now running the show and effortlessly maintaining the rich heritage of the festival while also innovating and taking smart risks to push it forward.

While the Movement festival itself is truly not to be missed, the party obviously doesn’t stop once scenic Hart Plaza closes up each day. From old Masonic temples, to DIY art galleries, and all-night warehouse ragers, Movement weekend offers a staggering amount of afterparties that showcase international heavy hitters and homegrown Detroit stars across genres — with, of course, a healthy dose of techno on the menu. As Movement weekend approaches, we’ve broken down the must-see afterparties to keep you dancing into the dawn hours.
