Flying Lotus – Night Grows Pale

Immediately following his trap-infused “Twin Peaks” rework, Flying Lotus delivers another sample-based track with a more soulful vibe, “Night Grows Pale.” While his rework of the Twin Peaks theme sputters atop gliding synths, “Night Grows Pale” returns to the mellow roots of FlyLo’s 2012 album Until The Quiet Comes. It features Queen vocalist Freddie Mercury’s virtuosic vocals from the band’s track “White Queen (As It Began)” and contorts them into a new light, pitched down over a psychedelic, bass-heavy instrumental.

While his last released full-length album was back in 2015, FlyLo has kept busy as a producer on Thundercat‘s Drunk and made his filmmaking debut in 2016 with KusoWhile also busying leading his Brainfeeder label, Flying Lotus seems primed to release more new music soon.
