Krewella reminisce in new music video for ‘Be There’

It goes without saying that the sisters behind Krewella have shared quite the journey in the spotlight. Jahan and Yasmine Yousaf’s careers have come a long way since their “Alive” days, giving themselves the time to explore new paths and define their sound.

If there’s anything to take away from the producer/singer/songwriter superduo, it’s that their time together spans much farther and deeper than most artist groups; the bond between the siblings go back quite literally to their formative days during childhood and continues to inform their work today. This alliance is now exhibited in full in their first single of 2017, “Be There.”

“Be There” acts an ode to change and growing up, giving focus to the unique connection created by sibling-hood and the virtue of personal growth. Revisiting their signature punk meets electro fervor, the duo calls upon the talents of fellow artists Lookas and Cody Tarpley to co-produce the track and create a powerful concoction of Krewella’s breezy lyricism, kinetic chord patterns, and ebbing basslines. Additionally, the music video accompaniment focuses attention on the two Yousaf sisters, featuring home video footage mixed in with current day captures. While the lives of the two sisters have come a long way, the new release illustrates that their bond is as strong as ever.
