Premiere: UMEK – Sneaking Unnoticed (Original Mix)

For two decades, UMEK has been an impactful figure in the techno and minimal realms, with a mission of connecting the once-fringe genres to a larger audience. The Slovenian artist and label-head often manages to do so in unusual and particularly far-reaching ways; recently, for instance, became a musical ambassador for Lufthansa Airlines, for which he curated a 200-song exclusive playlist with the intent of appealing to “techno enthusiasts and those new to the genre alike.”

In terms of original releases, UMEK has been on nothing short of a roll lately. Earlier in May, Dancing Astronaut premiered “Shadow Tactics,” a brooding piece which fused darker elements of techno and Drum & Bass into a frenetic end-product, designed to incite hysteria in the club setting. Released May 8 via FORM Music, the track featured remixes from Mar-T and FORM label-head POPOF.

On Monday, May 29, UMEK will release his next original production, “Sneaking Unnoticed” on his own imprint, 1605. The producer’s newest output is more adherent to his classic style than the prior. Quaking club kicks and sinister, yet melodic synthesis define the single, as it progresses through a series of atmospheric sonic gusts and ominous, bass-laden segments.
