Weekend Rewind: Listen to an episode of Armin Van Buuren’s ASOT radio from 2008

Recently, trance legend Armin van Buuren released a nostalgic compilation, entitled The Best Of Armin Only. The eclectic mix features tracks from various eras of his reign as the undisputed king of Trance music, ranging from “Communication,” released way back in 2003, to the much more recent “I Live for That Energy,” released earlier this year.

The album itself consists of tracks played at his world famous “Armin Only” shows, renowned for their stunning stage set up and extremely well curated and choreographed musical and visual elements. A veteran performer with two decades of experience, Armin is no stranger to dropping memorable live sets, a fact that has made his live shows some of the most widely attended in the entire dance music realm.

An example of such a set would be ASOT 365, played live at Ibiza’s Amnesia night club in 2008. The set features some of the hottest trance tracks of the time, with with cuts from of today’s superstars, including Pryda, EDX and Kaskade. The peaceful two hour mix is a far cry from today’s monstrous live sets and easily manages to send listeners into a state of trance.
