Dancing Astronaut's Top 5 Most Anticipated Sets of Electric Forest

Electric Forest is currently gearing up for their most ambitious edition to date. For the first-time ever, Madison House and Insomniac’s joint Michigan festival will be held for two consecutive weekends.

Ahead of the double-weekend affair, we’ve selected our top 5 most anticipated sets. Rather than select the obvious choices such as recurring Forest headliners like Bassnectar and The String Cheese Incident — who will undoubtedly be standouts of the weekend — we’ve opted to highlight specific performances which we’ll be a rare treat in the magical setting of Double JJ Ranch.

These are Dancing Astronaut’s Top 5 Most Anticipated Sets of Electric Forest 2017. Tickets for both weekend are available here.

5. Bob Moses

Coming off a Grammy win earlier this year for RAC’s brilliant take on “Tearing Me Up,” Bob Moses are in high demand. The duo of Jimmy Vallance and Tom Howie are still riding strong off the breakout success of their debut album, Days Gone By, and don’t look to be slowing down anytime soon.

It’s always a treat to see Bob Moses performing outdoors, and in the forest setting, their seductive songwriting is sure to be all the more infectious.

4. Machinedrum

Travis Stewart has been releasing music under various aliases for close to twenty years. Under the moniker of Machinedrum, Stewart has crafted one of the most engaging bass music projects of the past decade, highlight by avant garde sound design and an unmistakable tenacity for innovation.

For the bass-savvy Forest audience, Machinedrum is destined to be a rare treat. Expect trippy soundscapes, head-nod-worthy grooves, and an eclectic mix of genres woven together in stimulating fashion.

3. Claude VonStroke

House and techno may be a minority on the lineup, but with Claude VonStroke at the helm, fans can rest assured they’ll be in good hands. As the leader of California’s burgeoning Dirtybird imprint, Claude VonStroke is essentially royalty in the underground. Whereas many of his peers can often take their craft a bit too seriously, Claude is always destined to bring the fun back to the dancefloor.

For those looking for a house and techno respite in the Forest, look no further than Claude VonStroke.

2. Illenium

Illenium’s rise to notoriety over the past year has been meteoric. Coming off huge remixes of artists like Flume and The Chainsmokers, Illenium has carved out a meticulously polished sound that has won him droves of fans across North America.

His set from the Forest is sure to be well-attended — and for good reason: Illenium is experiencing his moment in the sun, and by all, it is well-deserved.

1. Rezz

Rezz, real name Isabelle Rezazadeh, has established herself as one of the more compelling artistic identities in the current electronic music landscape. Championing a distinctly dark, aggressive sound, Rezz melds elements of techno, electro, and dubstep into something entirely her own.

Where Rezz’s vision has truly come to life is in the outdoor setting of large-scale festivals. With a full crowd in the forest, backed by high-end visual production, we have no doubt that Rezz is primed to deliver one of the top performances of the weekend.

Rezz is our top most anticipated set of Electric Forest.
