Yesteday, Jun 1, Peking Duk and AlunaGeorge released the official music video for their funk-infused single, “Fake Magic.” Situated in a murky dive- bar, the Australian duo find themselves insensible to the peculiar affair in the backdrop, mesmerized by Aluna Francis, who parades throughout the scenery.
In a video that is comically retro, Peking Duk earn full credit for a song that decisively celebrates soulful dance music. Aluna Francis describes the concept behind the track, saying:
“We spoke about the idea of a woman coming into a man’s life and showing him the real magic in this world, an alternative world that is not weighed down by fake highs and material disappointment. I loved this idea. I’ve been that girl occasionally, so the lyrics came from a real place.”
“Fake Magic” marks the Australian duo’s first release since their 2016 hit single “Stranger”.
