Hate all you want, Calvin Harris, Steve Aoki & co are drowning in cash

Forbes has just released their annual list of the top 10 highest paid DJs in the world. It comes as no surprise that  Calvin Harris has retained his top spot once again with his Vegas residency, numerous headlining slots at festivals, and countless hits, including his most recent effort: Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1. The two artists who are new to the list are The Chainsmokers, who have risen to number three and Marshmello, who sits at number eight.

The Chainsmokers have had one hell of a ride with their hit single, “Closer” officially in the top 40 charts for a full year and their debut album, Memories…Do Not Open, landing the #1 spot on Billboard’s top 200 chart.

Many are more surprised about Marshmello’s spot on the list, however, the masked star’s YouTube channel has over 5 million subscribers as of mid-2017, and has accumulated over 700 million views so far. It is able to get an average of 2.4 million views per day from different sources.

This generates an estimated revenue of around $4,400 per day ($1.6 million per year) from the ads that appear on the videos. Marshmello makes most of his income through performing in front of crowds, selling music and from music royalties which earn him $2 – $10 million per year.
