FKYA pays homage to Tom Petty, donates proceeds to victims of Vegas attacks
On Oct. 1, the United States was rocked by the largest mass shooting to date, leaving nearly 60 concertgoers in Las Vegas dead and more than 500 injured. Just one day later, rock and roll legend Tom Petty died after being found in full cardiac arrest.
In light of both of these events, Canadian duo FKYA has composed a touching cover of one of Petty’s biggest hits, “Free Fallin,” and plans to donate all proceeds raised by the cover to the American Red Cross. The emotional cover features Maria Lynn on vocals.
“To us, Free Fallin is one of the greatest songs ever written. After hearing the news of Tom Petty’s passing we decided to release our cover of Free Fallin with Maria Lynn’s vocal as a tribute to one of music’s greatest. In Tom’s honor we are donating all proceeds raised by the cover to The American Red Cross to help aid the victims of the recent Las Vegas terror attacks.”
