Gorillaz drop eclectic new track, the Little Simz-led ‘Garage Palace’

Despite Gorillaz ramping up their tech on the Humanz album rollout  — complete with an app and 360-degree video for the song “Saturnz Barz” — Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett are now taking their virtual band into the past, as they’ve now released a 2D arcade-style visual counterpart for a new track “Garage Palace.”

Originally introduced on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show on October 31, “Garage Palace” is one of several previously unreleased bonus tracks that appear on the band’s “super deluxe,” 14-record vinyl box set edition of Humanz.

In addition to a trance-inducing beat and aesthetically appropriate synths, “Garage Palace” is led by the 23-year-old U.K. rapper Little Simz who’s currently on tour with the band.

Albarn also teased a forthcoming song called “Hollywood” on the show and even mentioned tantalizing collaborations with Flume and Mike WiLL Made-It. While it’s unclear as to whether a collaboration with Flume is in the near future, Albarn did also confirm his interest in releasing more new music soon.
