Sumera – Faith

A project outlining a self-defining disposition, Berlin-based singer Sumera tells a compulsory 3-piece story with her recent output of new music. Leading the narrative, the artist released the first song, “Animal,” earlier this year off Don Diablo’s HEXAGON imprint, introducing her tale of confronting the strength and fragility of desire and dealing with the physical memory of someone’s presence. This theme is a powerful extension of Sumera’s defining motive to liberate herself of all that oppression and that guilt and that shame that historically silenced and executed [women]and proclaim herself as an empowered woman in the 21st century.

As for her most recent release, “Faith” tackles the notion that vulnerability does not translate to weakness but, instead, is a property of individual strength. The track comes to life with a gratifying arrangement of deep synths growls, stentorian bass lines, and Sumera’s gripping lyricism to conjure a dramatic piece of music.
