Premiere: Teachers – Loved You All The Way (Johannes Brecht Night Remix)

Leave it to Johannes Brecht to transform a nostalgic, cheery indie song into a poignant electronic masterpiece. He does so to Teachers’ single “Loved You All The Way” with finesse, laying dissonant piano chords over haunting, deep strings to elicit an emotional response whose end result is goosebumps. While feel-good vocals were the centerpiece of “Loved You All The Way” in its pure form, Johannes Brecht prefers melodic manipulation as his weapon of choice while heavily editing the original’s vocals to fit his somber, yet beautiful canvas.

Though their visions are perpendicular in this particular instance, Teachers’ choosing of Brecht as one of their famed single’s official remixers makes sense. The band is making waves for its avant-garde releases, with its leader Benjamin Bronfman having two productions for Kanye West under his belt. Likewise, Brecht has been enthralling the underground with his cinematic pieces that are bolstered by his experience as a classical cellist.
