With prior writing credits for Kanye West, Selena Gomez, Steve Aoki and Martin Garrix alike, the debut single of Jackson Penn (real name Freddy Wexler) comes highly anticipated. For his debut, Wexler channels dreamy, guitar-driven pop with a sharp vocal edge. It has all the finesse of his A-list work whilst also breathing some new and intricate life into the process, most notably through his exceptional performance hallmarks. There’s something reassuring and shamingly uncommon about picking up a debut release and being blown away in the age of the playlist and streaming’s ‘wild west’ backdrop, but Jackson Penn starts with all the makings of a future star.
