Earlier this year, UK trip-hop kingpin Tricky delivered his single “Running Wild” featuring Mina Rose in anticipation of the release of his ununiform album off his False Idols label. The slow-grooving number was a galvanizing expression about the confusing uncertainty of youth, held up by Rose’s pining lyricism that easily punctured the lovelorn hearts of every listener.
Inspired by the emotive elements of the original, electro duo LA Riots infused their own adept house artistry to bring the single to newer heights. Keeping all the essential heart-rendering tonalities of the track, the pair turn “Running Wild” into a sizable, four-on-the-floor thriller, enlivened by a fusion of deep drum patterns, full-bodied synths, and skillfully placed vocal chops. While LA Riots have grown over the years with their heavy catalog of first-rate remixes, the team is gearing up to evolve their musical output with more upcoming original releases on Insomniac in/rotation, Spinnin and Country Club Disco in the coming months.
