Berghain’s infamous bouncer Sven Marquardt curated a series of experimental videos

Having manned the doors of Berlin’s legendary dance institution Berghain since its opening in 2004, it’s only right that Sven Marquardt’s presence has become one with the club.

Although, what many don’t know is that the East Berlin native is also an incredibly accomplished photographer. Marquardt’s released a memoir and exhibited artwork at numerous galleries around the world.

Now, he’s taking his curatorial skills beyond his choice black and white stills. Marquardt is the latest profile by the German television station STRRR, who asked him to pick out a number of experimental videos, movie clips, and music, for an episode which gives viewers a closer glimpse into his artistic perspectives.

The episode’s an expectedly invigorating, hour-long experimental video playlist offering a look into the dark mind of one of Berlin’s most perplexing institutions. It also echoes a succinct style, with masterful music from the likes of Iggy Pop, Radiohead, Portishead, Nine Inch Nails, Light Asylum, and more.

Watch here.
