Solveig delays the track’s namesake monologue until around the three-minute mark, favoring an extended rhythmic intro over the original’s early admission of the overlaid vocal. Slowing the song’s pace pays off for Solveig, who effectively engineers listener anticipation of “Woke’s” ensuing percussive build. Solveig’s omission of the original’s saxophone contribution for increased snare presence grounds the remix in deliciously dark tech house territory.
