New program to train nightlife staff to help prevent sexual violence

The Czech Republic’s Interior Ministry has identified sexual violence as a central target of its security initiative, prompting The Addictology Clinic in Prague to launch the “pilot stage” of a widespread training program for nightclub staff members. The instruction will teach staff members from the UK, Portugal, and Spain how to properly respond to reports of nightclub sexual violence.

Hana Fidesova of the Addictology Clinic expresses the relevance of the training to nightlife interaction, “The environment of night entertainment is a place in which sexual violence often occurs,” Fidesova notes, “The highly sexualized environment and influence of alcohol or other addictive substances contributes to this.” The introductory stage of the Clinic’s training program will commence training immediately, expecting to see results from the training by March of 2019.
