POPOF‘s path crossed with Nicole Moudaber by chance — the two shared a mutual industry connection, which led to them becoming colleagues as the French techno wizard was signed onto MOOD for his debut EP on the label. Confusion thus results in three distinctively-flavored tracks, each building expertly upon the last.

Its eponymous opener makes for an excellent introduction to POPOF’s tenure on MOOD, hailing back to the sounds of old with heavy touches of acid and punchy drum patterns. While “Confusion” is a more mellow offering than the proceeding tracks on the EP, it’s also the most adaptable in that it works just as well in an open-air set as it does deep in the afterhours.
