Billy Kenny further experiments with eccentric tech house tones on ‘Seahorses’ EP

Billy Kenny‘s set at the inaugural edition of Dirtybird Campout East exemplified the colloquialism “the early bird gets the worm,” as campers at the St. Cloud, Florida event earned an exclusive preview of Kenny’s latest EP, Seahorses. The Dirtybird signee wove the EP’s namesake single, “Seahorses,” into his set, the song proving to be both a breath of fresh sonic arrangement and an eccentric addition to Kenny’s catalogue.

The ingenuity of “Seahorses” foreshadows that of the full EP. Seahorses is comprised of two additional tracks — “Jump Onna Beat,” and “Move Like Aliens”— that function as flirtations with the outlandish, and are thus offerings housed directly, directly within the unconventional tech house aesthetic of the Dirtybird label and of Kenny’s own imprint, This Ain’t Bristol, the site of the album’s release.

Accompanying the EP is Kenny’s announcement of a European tour in support of Seahorses. Kenny will transport the inimitable funk of his Seahorses EP to various European cities including Hamburg and Leeds. Slated to commence on Friday, March 9 in Newcastle, the six-date tour will serve as the first of a four-part European touring initiative.
