DJ Snake unveils euphoric new original ‘When The Light’s Down’ during Ultra performance

Ultra Miami is much like the ‘Coachella‘ of electronic music festivals in that its star performers often save a good deal of new material to debut throughout the weekend and the surrounding Miami Music Week. DJ Snake became one of the first wave of high profile DJs to show off his freshly-made wares when he took the stage on Friday night, sharing one particularly unexpected, and welcomed gem.

Taking on the working title of “When The Light’s Down,” the production presents itself as a lighter addition to the DJ Snake repertoire, inducing smiles with pitched-up vocal edits rearranged into a jubilant melody, a touching bassline that becomes the centerpiece of the ending, and steep future bass drops to maintain a high energy level. Hints of robotic sampling add just a bit of edge to the finished product.

Word remains as to where “When The Lights Down” is signed to — perhaps it’s his brand new imprint, Premiere Classe, which he also announced during Miami Music Week just days before his headlining Ultra slot. Other notable parts of his performance include bringing Tchami and Malaa onstage to debut their new collaboration, and J Balvin for their Latin-tinged single “Mi Gente.”
