DA’s Sunday Morning Medicine – Classic Rock Edition Pt.2

Sunday Morning Medicine is a feature from Dancing Astronaut dedicated to the mellower side of electronic music. We bring you our favorite therapeutic selections — old and new — in an attempt to alleviate the agonizing effects of a long weekend of partying.

Building on our list of Classic Rock remixes Part 1, this week we’ve expanded that list to include even more oldies remade including legendary artists such as Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, Bruce Springsteen, Steely Dan and Tom Petty.

1. Pretty Lights adds a dubstep kick to Pink Floyd’s 1973 hit “Time” from album The Dark Side of the Moon working in the original psychedelic charm and nostalgic rock n’ roll.

2. Canadian duo Free n Losh take Led Zepplin’s 1969 classic track “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You” and add a sullen beat mixed with intricate guitar strings.

3. New York’s Cousin Cole offers a seductive take of Bruce Springsteen’s 1985 Born in the U.S.A hit single “I’m on Fire.”

4. UK’s Appo uses a sullen backbeat and sly percussion interludes  to spice up Steely Dan’s 1972 highest charting single “Do it Again.”

5. Montreal’s Dave Dialect revs up the bpm of Tom Petty’s 1993 ubiquitous classic “Last Dance with Mary Jane” using multiple layers of bass and drumstep.
