Zedd turns the creepy up to 11 with “Slam the Door” official video

As if Zedd’s electro-house banger, “Slam the Door” – which features a sample from an obscure YouTube video – wasn’t odd enough, the official video turns the creepy up to 11. There is something unsettling about the high contrast salivating that is mesmerizing and nauseating all at the same time – we just can’t look away.  Kanye West may have told us to throw our diamonds in the sky, but Zedd wants us to throw up our L’s and drool on ourselves.

Damian William – Russian Doll (Original Mix)

damian-william-russian-doll

When Tiesto debuted French, electro-house producer, Damian William’s “Russian Doll” over the summer at Electric Zoo in New York City, the crowd was instantly transformed by it’s multi-layered bass lines and squealing synths.  After 5 long months, this fast-paced production has a found a new home in our iTunes library.

The energy here is palpable as the euphoric piano chord lead builds into a massive drop before Damian effortlessly leads us into one of the most energetic breakdowns we have heard in awhile. This is a must listen for any electro-house fan.

Major Lazer – Original Don (Flosstradamus Remix) [Free Download]

major-lazer-original-don-flosstradamus

As if “Original Don” wasn’t funky enough, Flosstradamus slows it down, throws in one hell of a snare, and creates a remix that is even more fun than the original. It may not seem like anything that unique at first, but just wait until the breakdown at 2:45 – that’s when the track goes absolutely apeshit.

Bassnectar – Red Step (Mustard Pimp Remix)

We have one word for you – mayhem. This remix is what happens when you take the rumbling low end bass of Bassnectar and mix it together with the visceral and unrelenting electronic insanity of the boys of Mustard Pimp. They morph the original from a down tempo, heavy hitting dubstep track into a gritty, acid house one that moves at such a breakneck pace if it weren’t for that familiar squealing bass line it would be unrecognizable from the original. For those of us who prefer the darker side of electronic music, this track is a must have.

Heartwarming ultraviolence in The M Machine “Glow” video

The M Machine just debuted their video for “Glow,” a hauntingly beautiful track with an equally haunting music video. Reminiscent of the video for Pearl Jam’s “Jeremy ,” “Glow” follows the life of an abused and bullied young girl who looks to a robotic friend for solace. Watch the video to see the ultraviolence unfold – this is what “The Iron Giant” would look like if he murdered a school full of girls.

Hatiras and Nom De Strip – Roman Bromanski (Original Mix) [Preview]

“Roman Bromanski” marks the 3rd collaboration between Hatiras and Nom De Strip. Scheduled to be released on January 21st, this track has been supported by Laidback Luke and Crookers. With it’s pitch-bended bleeps, glass shattering claps, and moombahton-esque breakdown, “Roman Bromanski” is a dutch house fan’s fever dream. With another winter in full swing, it’s nice to be reminded of last summer’s bottle service, bikinis and black outs – this one is destined to be a summer pool party favorite.

Go behind the scenes with Skrillex and the Doors in the “Breakn’ a Sweat” music video

We were more than just a little upset when Skrillex collaborated with Korn for “Narcissistic Cannibal.”  Thankfully, Sonny Moore completely redeemed himself when he teamed up with the Doors for the ground-breaking documentary “RE:GENERATION.”

The remaining Doors members; Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger and Jon Densmore, join the young producer in the studio for this behind the scenes look at their collaboration “Breakn’ a Sweat.” Delicately mixing the old school Doors rock sound and Skrillex’s electronic mayhem, this track represents the first new Doors release in the 21st century. As someone who grew up on classic rock, it is refreshing to see such legendary musicians back in the studio for the first time in over 10 years.

Did anyone else notice the name of the hotel at the beginning of the video?  Kyoto.

Disco-house fans rejoice, BeatauCue release teaser for “Kiho”

Earlier today BeatauCue posted a teaser of their new track “Kiho” on Facebook and we immediately fell in love with its playful synths and electro chimes.

In my not-so-humble opinion, there is nothing better than a well-produced disco-house track and “Kiho” is French disco-house at its finest. It’s synthetic, sugar-coated, groovy perfection. Either my ADD medication is wearing off or this track just gave me one hell of a sugar high.

“Kiho” is set to be released on Kitsune Parisien II Records on February 13th.

New Cosmic Opera info revealed, ticket sale information now available

On January 4th we were treated to a cryptic video for a self proclaimed “extrasensory dance event series” dubbed The Cosmic Opera.  We were simultaneously intrigued and baffled. As more information was released — namely Axwell’s role as the event’s conductor — we knew this was going to be an experience unlike anything we’ve ever seen.

Today, with the release of ticket sale information, we are one step closer to understanding what The Cosmic Opera is all about. On Tuesday, January 17th at 10am there is going to be a limited pre-sale with a general sale the following day, Wednesday, January 18th at 10am.

Make sure you are ready Tuesday morning to grab tickets because anyone foolish enough to miss this needs to have their head examined. Even with what little information we have, The Cosmic Opera is shaping up to be an historic event in the world of electronic dance music — this isn’t your parents’ opera.

Swedish House Mafia – Antidote (Tommy Trash Remix)

tommy-trash

Who needs coffee in the morning? Thanks to Tommy Trash, you can all leave your coffee mugs behind today. Instead, just kick this electro-house rendition of Swedish House Mafia’s “Antidote” through your car’s speakers (or headphones if you are unlucky enough to use mass transit) on the way to work and let its grinding bass line kick start your day.

Tommy replaces Knife Party’s off-tempo beat with a synth similar to what he used in “Sex, Drugs, Rock N Roll.” It’s aggressive and energetic, just like we’ve come to expect from Mr. Trash.

This track is the perfect soundtrack for a Friday you will inevitably spend pretending to work while you fantasize about getting drunk tonight.
