Today the official Winter Music Conference 2011 dates were announced, which are set to take place Mar 8-12 in Miami Florida. For those unfamiliar, WMC traditionally occurs the last weekend in March. So what’s the big deal in having it a full two weeks earlier you ask? Well for starters, it overlaps with another popular music festival in SXSW (March 11-15). Lastly and perhaps most importantly, all the awesome after parties that make WMC what it is, are still happening at the end of March. Confused? So am I. The date change has enraged many fans and DJs a like, including Steve Angello who just a few days ago announced his plan for a massive 14-hour party that was set to take place, yep you guessed it, at the end of March. He and other DJs went off on their Twitter account today.
Pacha was in top form on Saturday night in anticipation of one of Sebastian Ingrosso’s consistently superb sets. The energy was palpable and electric . Never before had I seen the place so packed and ready to party. Even the secluded, safe, and oh-so-cozy VIP area saw people wrangling with each other just to get a glimpse of Swedish House Mafia’s most charismatic member. And charismatic he was, making quick use of the air horn in tandem with his opener, “Miami 2 Ibiza”. The rest, as they say, is history. The capacity crowd rocked out all night in what Ingrosso called “his best gig here by far”.

Chuckie is the latest big name DJ to break in the newly opened and highly touted LAVO NYC. The ultra chic, Vegas inspired lounge has been on a tear booking some of the biggest names in the genre. As evidenced by last night’s soiree and the upcoming TIËSTO set on October 15th. But last night was all about the Dirty Dutch master, who earlier on Twitter guaranteed he’d turn the place into a zoo. It didn’t take long for Chuckie to make good on his promise. Opening the night off with Van Helden’s remix “A.D.D. S.U.V.”, things quickly got crazy and there was no turning back.
