After we heard the previews for these songs we couldn’t wait to listen to the full versions, and 18-year-old Australian producer Walden, is quickly becoming a DA favorite. “Mono World” is seven minutes of amazing electro house, with a drawn out build that is very reminiscent of Deadmau5 — but the housey drop puts Walden in a different catagory. “At Last” is a big progressive house track (sort of reminiscent of his latest hit, “Brightness“) that builds with chords and drops with an uplifting bass line. Both tracks are available for free download so you can decide for yourself which you like better.
The Swedish duo Cazzette has been spending its entire existence — all of 9 months — coining and defining the genre “dub house.” Even in that short period of time they have been able to produce heavy yet upbeat remixes and originals. In conjunction with hitting 20,000 fans on Facebook, Cazzette released a new preview for “Hit Da Face,” which uses electro synths to build before dropping with a heavy, funky bass line that could even satisfy bass-haters. After creating a name by remixing Avicii songs and traveling with him on tour, it’s nice to see Alex and Sebastian starting to separate themselves. No word yet on the release date.
o the States, and played hundreds of shows for his loving fans. On this weeks finale of ‘In the Booth’ we watch as Tiësto and his team prepare for the largest DJ concert in US history at the Home Depot Center in Los Angeles. During the standard pre-show interviews, Tijs discusses how adapting is part of succeeding in the music industry. Everyone is trying to copy his sound, so Tiësto has to adapt in order to stay at the top. The rest of the episode is perfectly edited footage from the sold out 26,000 person show. As the Club Life tour ends, so does the web series. If you’re looking for a longer clip of the LA show, checkout the Tiësto app for iOS or download an hour from the set.
DC-based Alvin Risk has had only a few releases over the past year, most notably remixes to Steve Aoki’s “Earthquakey People” and “Eyes” by Kaskade. This time he takes indie-pop group’s Fun’s mainstream hit “We Are Young” and turns it into gold. Thi
s once slow, downtempo song becomes upbeat euphoria layered with light synths. We might say a lot of songs are great here at DA, but this track just makes you feel good on the inside and might just compel you to sing along.”We are Young” drops March 20th on Big Beat Records.
While most DJs try to define a distinct sound to call their own, Joel Zimmerman has been hard at work in his studio producing distinctly new music. In the past 24 hours, Deadmau5 has released six different clips ranging from heavy dub “octoberstep” to a lighter “cubasestep” to a calming finish with “sleepstep”. It is always interesting to see an artist work with such different sounds and to follow his progression as he creates music. Of course in true Deadmau5 style, there’s no word on release dates for any of these clips, but perhaps Joel is working on his variety in preparation Miami. Listen to the clips below.
There’s nothing better to wake you up in the morning than a new R3hab remix, and this time it’s “Shuri Shuri” by Denis Naidanow that gets the chainsaw treatment. The vocals from the original mix complement the build before R3hab turns on his signature, recognizable sound for the drop. In fact, it may be one of R3hab’s heaviest tracks to date. The song is very reminiscent of his remix to “Eyes,” in the way he combines the drop with the original lyrics. This track will be released March 20th on Tommy Boy — but knowing R3hab, we’ll probably have a few new previews in the meantime.
With the recent announcement of Club Life: Miami, Tiësto is releasing “Chasing Summers” when you pre-order the album. This new track starts with smooth synths until about halfway through the song when it drops into heavy bass. Definitely a feel good song that reminds us of a lazy summer day which ends with an awesome night. Preordering the album will let you take the single home today.
The orignal release date for “Elva” has passed but today marks the released of the Polish producer/DJ’s first single on Ultra Records . The build of progressive synths leads to a clean drop with fist pumping bass. This is a song surely to win the hearts of many with its uplifting melody and will surely be played throughout MMW. The song is available today on Beatport.com
