For those of you that aren’t business savvy, let’s brush up on our marketing skills. When you are offering a product or a service you want to make that particular item, company, or person the most appealing to your target audience. You want to identify the consumer, satisfy the consumer, and keep that consumer coming back for more. So the question arises — who is/are the easiest EDM artist(s) to market? A few names may pop into mind: David Guetta, Afrojack, Avicii, Swedish House Mafia, blah, blah, blah. The correct answer may in fact be Liv and Mim, the two spunky blondes that make up Nervo. Here’s a list why:
Two of the newest artists underneath the Mixmash Records umbrella team up to create “Dutchano.” The title of the tune merges “Dutch” and “piano” together. This explains the progressive chords during the build up and the signature bl33py drop we have known to love from Holland’s finest DJs. When you play the video you will be listening to Laidback Luke’s edit which is set to release on the 17th of this month. Check it out and tell us what you think of this new style in the comments.
Fresh off their release of “Runaway,” Chrizzo and Maxim have put together two bootlegs that combine some of the biggest tracks in the business. Look for some more big releases to come from this German duo in the very near future.
The first offering from Chrizzo & Maxim combines Hook N Sling’s remix of Nervo’s “We’re All No One” with Afrojack’s newest single “Lionheart.” These two vastly different tunes complement each other perfectly, as Nervo’s sexy voice provides a great progressive build up for Afrojack’s roller coaster drop.

Our second featured bootleg merges Denzal Park’s remix of Rebecca & Fiona’s “Luminary Ones,” with Arno Cost’s “Lise.” This is vastly different from the first bootleg because these two tracks are very similar as opposed to being different in structure. What sets this bootleg apart is how well the basslines cooperate with each other. This is a must have for all progressive fans.

Jerome Isma-Ae is one of the more prominent pure progressive DJs out there. He creates what we like to call ‘driving music,” these are the type of tunes that feature a fast paced bassline, which allows you to drift off into an alternate dimension. Oddly enough, this track is named “Speed”- this goes along well with our driving theory. We believe this is perfect for the next BMW or Mercedes commercial. Check out his previous release of “959” alongside Sebastien Krieg – both tunes have the same structure and feel. While this may not be your typical club banger, listening to this on your headphones is downright soothing.

Deadmau5 is a showman. The visuals and energy he brings to a crowd can only be matched by a select few DJs in the industry. Tommy Lee, DJ Aero, Feed Me, A-Trak, and Fatboy Slim were all featured on the lineup, needless to say, it was an event you couldn’t miss. Keep in mind that this event was on the Saturday before Halloween. What does this mean? Costumes add intensity and passion into any party (and they are flat out sexy assuming you are female).
We like to compare Mau5 to a fine bottle of wine, you’ve really got to have refined tastes in order to truly appreciate the unique sounds he creates and what he has does for house music in general. He has personally brought up signature DJs such as Skrillex and Feed Me who are now big players in the game to say the least. But enough about Deadmau5′ resume – let’s dive into the 5 tracks that will leave a lasting memory of an exciting event (ranked in order of anthem-ness).
We’ve all been at crazy festivals before. EDC, UMF, and Sensation always bring the heat and you know what you type of energy and adrenaline you will experience before you even enter the venue. Clubs, on the other hand, can be hit or miss. Sometimes the DJs and people decide to bring it, while on other days you almost need a few extra drinks to make the time pass by more quickly. Rest assured — this did not happen on November 5th during R3hab’s performance at Ruby Skye.
Here’s a bold statement to get things going: R3hab’s set at Ruby Skye was the best crowd we have ever been a part of — festival or not.
There, we said it. Now let us give you 10 reasons why you should believe it. (more…)
Patrick Hagenaar makes his second appearance on Dancing Astronaut with his latest single – “Boob Control.” This is one instance that you can judge the book by its cover. The great title matches the groovy disco oriented tune that is great to play in any setting. Many of you may remember his previous two releases of “I Won’t Let You Down” and “I-Fan,” both were great and did well at the box office. Expect more great tunes in the future from Patrick as he looks to move up the ranks within the EDM community.

Following up with their remix of Jean Elan’s “Flashed,” Dabruck & Klein have created “2:48″ a pure progressive trance track that is perfect for zoning out. This duo has been firing out hard progressive jams for quite a few years now, so seeing the change of pace is nice. The name of the track is interesting – we think they named it after the exact hour and minute that would be ideal for this tune to be played, kind of like one of those recommendations on a food package that says “best used by.” This was released on November 7th on Armin Van Buuren’s imprint Armada Music. Keep on the lookout for their remix of Veracocha’s “Carte Blanche.”

The tandem that brought us the instant classic “Cinema” brings us another club heater called “Close To Me.” R3hab and Michael Woods give us the official remixes, both are very different, but are made for champions.
R3hab’s remix is straight fire. You may agree or disagree, but if you hear it live (like we did on Saturday at Ruby Skye) you will go absolutely bonkers. It is quite scary at how high people were jumping, we thought there were a thousand Blake Griffins in the crowd. Ruby’s dancefloor must have craters in them, the amount of abuse that floor took is unimaginable. Wait until the drop - it is instant power.

Michael Woods has been known to pump out huge progressive tunes a la Eric Prydz. While this doesn’t go nearly as hard as R3hab’s, it’s still impressive. This rendition focuses more on the vocals and is flat out groovy, this reminds us of his remix of “Ass On The Floor.” Who gives a shit if he didn’t make the DJ Mag Top 100, he always gives us a full dose of awesome.

For those of you that have been ‘out of the loop’ or don’t have eyes or ears, Zedd’s “Aftershave” has fallen upon us. Tommy Trash and Kaskade have both given us some grungy remixes of “Shave It.” Let’s dive into the details below.
We seem to think that Kaskade’s work with Skrillex (think: “Lick It“) has influenced him in a dirty sort of way – sexual innuendo not intended. This remix has a considerable wobble that takes you by surprise when you listen to Kaskade’s previous work. That being said, Kaskade is a multi-faceted artist and pulls this one off with ease.

Tommy Trash uses the hook from the original mix extremely well throughout this remix. After listening to both remixes you would think that Tommy Trash’s rendition would have a dubbier style, however, it is Kaskade’s that adds that extra layer of filth. If you are more into electro-house based music as opposed to dubstep – Tommy’s remix is your choice from this package.
