Duck Sauce – Big Bad Wolf (Dada Life Remix) [Preview]

Duck Sauce’s “Big Bad Wolf” video was hilarious. It could arguably win best music video of the year status. The only problem is that the original mix is much better live than it is through your headphones. Let us be clear here – Dada Life’s remix is flat out better and doesn’t share any of the problems the original has. It takes Dada’s sausage fattening sounds and applies them to “Big Bad Wolf” which creates absolute euphoria. This duo has unbelievable energy in live shows, but they bring it even in their preview snippets. Let’s face it – a funny preview leads to the excitement surrounding the track. All of us at Dancing Astronaut can’t wait to get our hands on this, and we are willing to bet you can’t either.

PS – cute dog.

Release Date: unknown, but we have a feeling a little birdie will let us know.

Louis La Roche – Los Angeles

louis la roche 1

Coming off the heels of his “Gimme Gimme/ The Wall” EP, UK DJ/producer Louis La Roche gives away a free tribute to the city of Los Angeles. If you are a fan of nu disco/ french house Louis is currently your king, no one has cleaner and more playful productions than him. The beauty of nu-disco is that it is truly takes you through time, allowing you to relive elements from the 70s and 80s. With that being said, Louis does a great job of blending the past with the future and creating a whole new appeal for ‘new age’ music listeners to n-joy. This track is fun and lively, which happens to be an accurate description of Los Angeles.

Avicii to finally release “Levels,” prepares for world domination

There are good songs that you listen to for a while. There are great songs that you can’t get enough of. There are anthems that are played consistently at every festival. Then there is “Levels” a song that is so big that it deserves its own triangle at the top of the pyramid. Last year we thought Swedish House Mafia’s “One” and Afrojack’s “Take Over Control” took house music to a whole new level – and to be fair, it did. This year “Levels” thrust house music to the forefront of pop culture and redefined the way people perceived house music. For those of you that are still in denial – this is pop culture, so wake the eff up.

The Mom Test - You want to know how we know that Avicii is truly transcending music? My mom knows who he is and what “Levels” sounds like. Want to know the even scarier part? She absolutely despises house music, because her son may or may not party excessively to it. Every now and then she asks for a new workout playlist – and guess what? “Levels” has to be on it.

Dancing Astronaut Rule #147 – When an artist passes the ‘mom test’ with flying colors he or she is truly primed for world domination.

Dancing Astronaut Rule #148 – After passing the mom test, the song is then put into a pantheon where everyone must worship at its throne. People who do not oblige, must be hung and stoned in public.

Release Date: Halloween or November 1st

Marco Poggioli & Matteo Gariselli – Iris (Manuel De La Mare Space Mix)

manuel-de-la-mare3

Marco Poggioli and Matteo Gariselli’s “Iris” gets an added disco twist from Manuel De La Mare. While this may not be a club anthem it definitely is a nice tune to relax with in the correct environments. The hi-hats and snares are particularly evident in this remix – they are short and quick and really bring out the different elements surrounding minimal and deep house. If you are more of a progressive fan listen to Manuel’s previous releases of “Guerilla” and “LA Social” to get that big room feel when listening through your headphones. Currently, Manuel has been spitting out tunes at an unbelievably high rate – do we see any signs of slowing down in the future? Probably not.

Dada Life – Happy Violence (Caveat Remix) [Preview]

Dada Life at Lavo - 02

Here is the latest remix of Dada Life’s “Happy Violence.” Previously, we thought the vocals may have been from Nervo, however, it is the lovely Sue Cho that deserves credit (not 100% sure, but almost positive). That being said, check out this dubby remix from 16 year old rising producer Caveat. This has the perfect amount of wobble for everyone to get behind, even non-dubstep fans can dig this. This is set to release on Halloween day on Beatport and November 1st on iTunes. Check out the preview and sound off in the comments!

Release Date: Halloween on Beatport, November 1st on iTunes

Tiesto – Maximal Crazy (New Remixes)

Tiesto - Club Life Home Depot Center 2

Isn’t it great when an original mix is very good and then a package of remixes come out that take the track to a whole new level (cut to all the people nodding with a huge smile)? That’s exactly what happened with “Maximal Crazy,” but then again you expected that to occur with the likes of R3hab, Swanky Tunes, and the Bassjackers unleashing their powerful touches. Let’s dive into the meaty sections of these bombs.

R3hab and Swanky Tunes used each of their respective trademark sounds to create a pulsing remix that emits an intoxicating amount of bass through your speakers. You can hear that distinct “Steam Gun” sound from Swanky Tunes in the bassline, however, the buildup incorporates all of R3hab’s signature ‘edgier’ noises. The sharpness of R3hab’s style combined with the progressive force of the Russian group gives you the perfect blend of both styles. This is straight up fire from start to finish.

The Bassjackers recreate the saying “go hard or go home” – it has recently been changed to “go hard or cease to exist.” This remix currently has more strength than the San Francisco 49ers defense (which is a whole hell of a lot). Make sure you maintain a low center of gravity to increase balance, because the Bassjackers fully intend on knocking you on your ass.

Jorgensen & Jesse Voorn – Loser (Original Mix)

jesse-voorn7

Jorgenson & Jesse Voorn combine forces to create a house remake of Beck’s “Loser.” This tech jam takes the classic vocals from the original version and adds a strong bassline with the incorporation of some sweeping sounds. When the guitar riffs kick in the sensation you feel is unreal, the vocals then proceed to get chopped up and the BPM speeds up. The tune is already getting support from the likes of David Guetta, David Tort, and Marco V.

BONUS: Jorgensen & Jesse Voorn – Loser (David Jones Remix)

David Jones gives the original mix a little more pizzazz using the guitar riffs more prominently within the bassline. We believe this is a little more club friendly and playful. As you continue listening past the halfway mark the drums get considerably harder and the drop adds a little spice to the track. Nice choice for your DJ set when you are transitioning between progressive and electro.

Beni – Someone Just Like You (Style Of Eye Remix)

style of eye

Australian producer, Beni, released his debut album House Of Beni on October 11th. Linus Eklow aka Style of Eye creates a remix of wild proportions – it is hard to confine this rendition to strictly one genre. Their are evident portions within the track that ooze both electro and tech elements. Linus has been on fire ever since his release of “We Are Boys,” he has unleashed remixes of both Rebecca and Fiona’s “If She Was Away” and Ray Foxx’s “The Trumpeter.” Keep on the lookout for more tunes from this incredibly talented DJ who is rising up the ranks rapidly.

Dancing Astronaut’s Ultimate Guide To Halloween Weekend: Las Vegas

xs_tryst_halloween2011

Why isn’t Halloween a nationally recognized holiday? Nearly all young professionals and students go out and treat it as one of the biggest occasions of the entire year. You spend time planning your costume and where you’re going to party. Do corporate offices really want you to come in the next day hungover and less productive than normal? Of course not, but that’s what sick days are for. Hopefully this guide makes you want to stay a few extra days in the city of sin, so if you do decide to lengthen your stay make sure to keep this in mind: If you decide to go out, make sure you crush it. “I have work tomorrow” and “I have an early flight to catch,” are not valid excuses to tank a night out in one of the best cities in the entire world. If you are in that category, well, you might as well not have gone in the first place.

In this guide, we’ll break down the daily EDM events going down in each venue. That being said, we have a disclaimer. XS Nightclub decided to go balls to the wall and absolutely blow out their lineup. You could book a room in the Wynn or Encore and never even have to leave for the entire weekend. While new venues and different hotels add to the experience, are you really going to miss Avicii, Axwell, Alesso, Deadmau5 or Afrojack? That’s what we thought. Anyhow, make your decisions accordingly and thoroughly, any funny sexual excursions embarked upon during Halloween weekend that you would like to share with us can be sent to contact@dancingastronaut.com.

Digitalism – Circles (Eric Prydz + Jeremy Olander Remixes)

eric prydz

Did you guys watch the epic season finale of Shit I Probably Shouldn’t Have Read Anyway? In that episode did you see Eric Prydz jump into DJ Mag‘s corporate offices with both middle fingers raised in the air loudly announcing the arrival of his “Circles” remix? Well if you missed it – we think he was mortified about his unbelievably low ranking on their list. Read about here.

This remix brings a whole new level of spirituality to progressive house music. It kind of gives you that feeling of separation between body and mind. Let us discuss a theory that we have concocted and run it by you guys for just a second.

Zone-ability theory: This is directly related to Bud Lights “drinkability,” however, it is in relationship with house music. If a tune makes you zone out from the real world or engages you for minutes on end, then it automatically belongs in the ‘damn good song category.’ If a track makes you zone out for hours on end it belongs in the ‘I absolutely love this guy category.’

Which category does Eric belong in? Listen below in order to decide.

After gushing about Eric Prydz remix we are hear to tell you that Jeremy Olander put together a fine rendition. When compared to Eric’s it is considerably harder hitting, but still finds a way to blend that spiritual sound in. This is his first release since his “Fairfax/Rypamont” release and it is pure quality from start to finish.
