Sebastian Ingrosso premieres first episode of Refune Radio, with world premieres in tow

sebastian-ingrosso

Sebastian Ingrosso came out with his first installment of his brand new podcast series called Refune Radio. In this month’s show, Ingrosso announced the preview of “Eclipse (Why Am I Doing This)” and gave us a listen to Axtone Records’ upcoming release,”In My Mind.” We can expect to hear the tracks that not only each Swede (Axwell, Ingrosso, and Angello) will play, but it will sum up many of the releases on each one of their respective labels. Obviously, the announcement of new tunes that are set to release on Refune Records is the most enticing part of the package. Make sure you subscribe on iTunes so that you can be up to date with SHM music.

Sebastian Ingrosso, Steve Angello & Alesso – Eclipse (Why Am I Doing This) [Preview]

Sebastian Ingrosso kicks off his podcast Refune Radio with a bang by announcing his newest track alongside Steve Angello and Alesso called “Eclipse (Why Am I Doing This).” It looks as if the talented Alesso has ‘replaced’ Axwell in a new age (but temporary) version of the Swedish House Mafia. “Eclipse” is easily the most acidic track released by any of SHM’s members since Steve Angello’s “Teasing Mr. Charlie.” This one should provide a heavy dose of energy when the track is available to purchase (we’ve heard of no exact release date yet, but we’ll keep you posted). We hope the release of “Eclipse” is a much easier process than the release of Masquerade Motel (Miami) tickets.

Neon Trees – Animal (Michael Brun Rework) [Preview]

DA stargazer pic

Neon Trees’ first single “Animal” peaked at number 13 on the Billboard charts, Michael Brun attempts to tackle a tough test by making a progressive remix to an insanely popular tune. Michael Brun also made our Top 5 Emerging Rookies List due to the success of his tracks “Dancing” and “Dawn.” When listening to his previous releases you can see that Michael can produce many different sounds ranging from sensitive progressive all the way to more big room stuff. 2012 will represent a big year for this up and coming producer so stay tuned to hear more from him.

Release Date: February 1st

tyDi ft. DJ Rap – Talking To Myself (Maison & Dragen Remix)

marcus maison will dragen

Maison and Dragen continue their impressive run of releases with their remix of “Talking To Myself.” Recently, they have been placed at number 5 on our “Top 5 Emerging Rookies” list. Not only is their future bright, but their production quality is impeccable. Listen to “Rio De Janeiro” if you need any convincing as to what solid progressive house sounds like. The bandwagon is still relatively open as we speak, we highly suggest hopping on it now before it inevitably gets full.

GusGus – Within You (Carl Louis & Martin Danielle Remix) [Preview]

Carl-Louis-Martin-Danielle1

Two of our favorite Norwegians, Carl Louis and Martin Danielle, come out with their single “Within You.” Their most recent release “FiveAM” featured excellent synths and was unbelievably uplifting. This time around they build off a very trance oriented sound that starts kicking in towards the end of the preview. Fast forward to approximately 2:10 in order to truly grasp the energy. This duo has graciously decided to give “Within You” away as a free download on January 31st. Stay tuned!

2012 Top 5 Emerging Rookies

Get More: Music News

About a week ago, MTV posted an article called “EDM Rookies to Watch in 2012.” The piece was essentially MTV’s forecast for the future, and it created quite the stir — not only within our company, but among fans the world over. Notable names included Alesso, Arty, Deniz Koyu, Hardwell, Knife Party, Nicky Romero, R3hab, Tommy Trash, and Zedd. Before we can move on, we need to get to the bottom of a few things.

First, it’s important to acknowledge what the word “rookie” actually means. In sports, you’re a “rookie” during your first year as a professional athlete. It doesn’t matter how much you play or how much attention you receive — if you are on a team’s final roster and it’s your first year in the game, you are considered a rookie.

It is more difficult, however, to distinguish this “first year” when talking about artists. What really is your “rookie” year? Is it the year that you first started producing? Is it the year you got signed to a label and released your first official track? Or is it the year that you started garnering attention from the biggest EDM fans? As you can see, there are some pretty big gray areas here, but hopefully we can hash it out.

Style Of Eye & Magnus The Magnus – Antidote (Sebjak Remix) [Preview]

Sebjak Headlines At DJ Tävling

Sebjak remixes Style Of Eye and Magnus The Magnus’ track “Antidote,” which came out last year. It has a deeper and darker sound than the original, but it still keeps a high level of funkiness. If you love the blend between tech and progressive peruse through Sebjak’s SoundCloud in order to get your aural filling. Dancing Astronaut will bring you the full version shortly.

Jackback ft. David Guetta, Nicky Romero, Sia – Wild Ones (Preview)

cover_jackback1

Nicky Romero just posted this preview on his SoundCloud a few minutes ago and the response has already been overwhelmingly positive. If you are a sucker for piano house, then you will be blasting “Wild Ones” nonstop: the uplifting synths and distortions in the background make this song an absolute joy to listen to on high volume. We are grateful that we don’t have to wait an inordinate amount of time for the release, as it will hit Beatport in just a week. Does Nicky Romero have any other collaborations under his sleeve after “Wild Ones” and his track with Avicii come out? Stay tuned to find out!

Release Date: January 30th

Ian Carey & Rosette ft. Timbaland & Brasco – Amnesia (Various Mixes)

Ian Carey and Rosette team up with Timbaland (you should know who he is) and Brasco to create a hard hitting electro pop tune called “Amnesia.” The drop features a few of the standard bleeps that were part of the quintessential Dutch house track in the early part of 2010. There are a ton of remixes in this package, but a few of the notables are Cazzette, Ziggy Stardust, and Firebeatz renditions. Let’s go through them below, but first listen to the original version.
