Sebastian Ingrosso premieres first episode of Refune Radio, with world premieres in tow

sebastian-ingrosso

Sebastian Ingrosso came out with his first installment of his brand new podcast series called Refune Radio. In this month’s show, Ingrosso announced the preview of “Eclipse (Why Am I Doing This)” and gave us a listen to Axtone Records’ upcoming release,”In My Mind.” We can expect to hear the tracks that not only each Swede (Axwell, Ingrosso, and Angello) will play, but it will sum up many of the releases on each one of their respective labels. Obviously, the announcement of new tunes that are set to release on Refune Records is the most enticing part of the package. Make sure you subscribe on iTunes so that you can be up to date with SHM music.

Dancing Astronaut presents Axis, Episode 001

Axis-Show-Art

One thing the EDM cognoscenti got right was the notion of the EDM radio show. Above & Beyond have Trance Around the World, Tiesto has Club Life, Armin Van Buuren does A State of Trance, and Avicii’s got LE7ELs. Well, we’re throwing our hat into the ring with the premiere of our flagship radio show: Axis.

Featuring the latest and greatest in current and unreleased EDM — not to mention expertly mixed by our very own Jared-F — each carefully crafted episode is designed to fill that gap created by other radio shows. If you’ve been looking for a show filled with not only the tracks you’re just getting to know and love but also those unreleased gems by your favorite DJs, Axis is the answer.

We’ve started our first episode off with our (and your) favorite tracks that have come out recently. Next month, we’ll be bringing you a whole slew of surprises.

Laidback Luke debuts Super You & Me Radio at SiriusXM HQ, turns ordinary office into a dance party

laidback luke sirius 6

The Midtown Manhattan offices of Sirius XM are, in a word, unassuming. Checking in with security and taking the elevators up to the 36th floor on a dreary weekday night, it was natural to wonder how the building could host an artist like Laidback Luke. But the SiriusXM lobby was transformed from entryway to full-out dance party as Laidback Luke mixed the debut episode of his new weekly Electric Area show Super You & Me Radio. A select few fans and listeners were treated to a typically high-energy set from Luke – as well as a sit-down interview with the Dutch legend and SiriusXM host Danny Valentino. Dancing Astronaut was there for all the action; click past the break for our review.

R3hab unleashes chainsaw madness at Ruby Skye 11.5.2011

r3hab 1

We’ve all been at crazy festivals before. EDC, UMF, and Sensation always bring the heat and you know what you type of energy and adrenaline you will experience before you even enter the venue. Clubs, on the other hand, can be hit or miss. Sometimes the DJs and people decide to bring it, while on other days you almost need a few extra drinks to make the time pass by more quickly. Rest assured — this did not happen on November 5th during R3hab’s performance at Ruby Skye.

Here’s a bold statement to get things going: R3hab’s set at Ruby Skye was the best crowd we have ever been a part of — festival or not.

There, we said it. Now let us give you 10 reasons why you should believe it. (more…)

The Amsterdam Dance Event took place this past week, and consisted of four days of nothing but dance music in one of the world’s greatest cities. BBC Radio 1 did a tribute to the event last night, starting off with a special Pete Tong Essential Selection to help R1 “Go Dutch,” and then aired pieces of four of the event’s livesets. Afrojack, Sidney Samson, R3hab, and Ferry Corsten are just some of the sets available, and there’s even a video of Nervo from Be-@ TV. That’s just a few of the many sets available from the week, so head over to House4DJ and stock up on your livesets.

John Dahlback at Vessel San Francisco: 5 tracks you need to know

DSC_9169

Professionalism for a top notch DJ is very important for his/her reputation, not only do they have to bring it on a gig by gig basis, but they must be energetic even if energy is hard to muster. Let us begin by saying that Vessel is arguably the best place to see a DJ Live in the city of San Francisco. Yes, we do have Ruby Skye which books an insane amount of talent, but from an intimacy perspective nothing tops the elegance and close up view of the tiny ‘underground’ club that Vessel is.

John Dahlback is the definition of professional – Vessel at its peak was at approximately one fourth capacity. That makes it seem like a ghost town in a tiny club, however, have no fear John Dahlback threw it down with one of the cleanest sets we’ve heard in sometime. Dancing Astronaut tried to make up for the lack of energy by adding a little extra of our own.

Tiesto liveset from Home Depot Center available for download!

Tiesto - Club Life Home Depot Center 2

We’ve told you about Tiesto’s history-making performance at the Home Depot Center already, but there’s something different about hearing it for yourself. Our friends at SiriusXM were lucky enough to broadcast an hour of the set for those of us who couldn’t be there to hear the mouth-watering tracklist live. Unfortunately this isn’t the complete set — and as far as we know, it won’t be broadcasted — but you can still check out the complete tracklisting after the break.

A weekend in Ibiza: Masquerade Motel with Alesso and Benny Benassi

Ibiza_Dancing_Astronaut_Final

The rhythm of summer pulses from one island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. It blows up with international club tourists that dance all night and hang on the beaches all day. This island brings the SoundCloud-inclined rising stars of tomorrow and the old school big names alike. More top 100 clubs reside on this 220 square mile island than in the entire United States.

Of course I’m talking about the one, the only, Eivissa, or as you may know it, Ibiza  (though it’s often pronounced with a lisp as in “Ibitha”). This season the halfway point between Barcelona and Algeria has been home to David Guetta’s prudish but legendary F*** Me, I’m Famous party, Eric Morillo’s Subliminal, the Come Together party at Space, Judgement Sundays at Eden, and Amnesia’s famous Cream.  Our personal favorite, however, has to be Swedish House Mafia’s reigning event at Pacha, Masquerade Motel.

In this short Ibizan tale — typical of many — I’ll bring you through a 16 hour day in the world capital of dance music. From the morning trip to the fruit market, to the afternoon beach party, into the unforgettable main event of the evening — the Masquerade Motel, get ready to take a ride as you get a small taste of what this little island has to offer.

Embellish yourself…
