Dillon Francis mini mix featured on BBC Radio 1

dillon1

One of Moombahton’s brightest stars at the moment, Dillon Francis, had a 25 minute mix featured on Flux Pavilion’s BBC Radio 1 takeover on Saturday and he’s giving it to all of his fans for free. The mix features several original productions from Dillon along with remixes he did for artists such as Chase and Status, Toddla T, and CCS. He also had a world premiere of his newest track, “IDGAFOS,” forthcoming on Mad Decent. We’ve seen Dillon a few times now and it was a solid short mix with a bunch of tracks you would expect in a Dillon Francis set, along with some unreleased bangers you can expect to hear more of in the near future. Check out the tracklist after the break.

Laidback Luke at Royale, Boston (review)

laidback luke

When you ask most people in Boston if they’ve heard “Timebomb,” “Dirty Talk,” or “Till Tonight” they’ll usually identify them as “techno songs.” Ask Laidback Luke about the Boston scene, and even he will admit that his genre of choice isn’t the most popular, “Boston is not a primary market, to be honest.”

Let’s face it: the EDM scene in Boston is almost nonexistent. With the exception of the occasional Duck Sauce drop at Tequilla Rain on Lansdowne St, it’s pretty unusual to have an act like Luke roll through town — but he did last Wednesday night, and we were there to capture the action.

Avicii @ Marquee Dayclub 7.2.11

© Al Powers, PowersImagery.com

Pre-scandal Tiger Woods was one of the most memorable athletes of our era. The tournaments he entered were easily more marketable, as he had this mystique about him that just attracted people. Everyone wanted him to win – especially the PGA who needed him to for monetary reasons. Same thing happened when Michael Jordan came out of a tunnel in the mid 90′s. MJ jerseys are still abundant and his shoeline is a best seller. What does this have to do with Avicii you ask? Respect. Avicii is the current MJ/Tiger of the current EDM era. At EDC this year, when Avicii was performing on the main stage it was just as crowded as when the Swedish House Mafia was playing. The only difference is – there are THREE of them and only one of Avicii.
