Exclusive preview: Death Hertz & No Body – Ready 2 Fly

RIM045 Artwork

On Friday, Rising Music, run by Chris Lake and friends is releasing “Ready 2 Fly” a track produced by Death Hertz & No Body. Although the two are relatively new to the scene, after you hear this exclusive preview you’ll be ready for more. The track starts off slow with soft piano chords layered over drums, which all build into an ear-rattling, dubstep-inspired drop. Deadmau5 has reportedly been playing the song regularly in sets as of late — an endorsement that’s nothing to scoff at.

Release Date: February 10th

Adrian Lux featuring Lune – Fire (Club Mix)

rephlektorlist_FireCoverart2

The Swedish producer and DJ Adrian Lux is back in the studio pumping out beats. In his first original mix since “Alive,” Lux brings a softer more trancy song that is sure to evoke emotions among all listeners. Lune puts just the right amount of vocals and personal touch over the track, which should make it catchy enough for sing alongs. In addition to the club version and radio edit out now on Beatport, a remix package will be released February 21st. Along with the already previewed Mikael Weermets remix, R3hab, Jeremy Olander, and Style Of Eye all have their own version in the works. Watch out 2012, Adrian Lux is coming. (PS: Don’t forget to check out our interview with Adrian from Pacha NYC.)

Ken Loi teases upcoming ‘Play Me’ EP with nine-minute sampler

Ken-Loi-Marquee-LV

Just a week ago rising superstar Ken Loi teased us with a preview for his remix of Ass Back Home and he has returned to further tantalize us with Play Me. Not to worry, however, as Loi’s aptly titled EP is set to be released on February 21st. If the recently released sampler is any indication of what’s to come, his future looks bright. The 9-minute preview of the 6-track EP is full of energetic synths, heavy bass lines, and bouncy melodies–no soft stuff here. The standout track of the preview looks to be “Blitz,” which can be heard beginning at the 4:31 mark. Hold tight for the drop as it’s definite crowd pleaser. Take a listen and let us know which track is your favorite.

Kaskade ft. Skylar Grey – Room For Happiness (Various Remixes)

room for happiness

Kaskade already gave us two versions of “Room For Happiness,” his collaboration with Skylar Grey, on his album Fire & Ice – the uplifting, big room-friendly “Fire” mix and the pared-down, emotional “Ice” mix. If neither of those was your style, or you just want more Kaskade/Skylar goodness, you’re in luck: today saw the release of five new remixes. The package includes the production talents of Gregori Klosman (whose remix was previewed by Kaskade himself), Feenixpawl, Pixl, Pixel Cheese, and Mysto & Pizzi. Check out all of the remixes after the break and let us know your favorite in the comments section.

Dannic – Doster (Original Mix)

dannic

Dannic, formerly known as DJ Funkadelic, has released his first tune under his new alias called “Doster.” At the young age of 25, Daan Romers (his real name), is best known for his work alongside Hardwell when they collaborated to create “Get Down Girl.” This time around he creates a track that is an easy listen — a simple, yet solid tune that can fit anywhere in a live set. The trouse style is still prominent even as we carry on throughout 2012, and it is safe to call Revealed Recordings as the lead imprint for this particular style. Remember his name because we expect some big things from Dannic in the next few months, including a new track named “Kontiki” alongside Hardwell.

Chris Lake – Build Up (Tommy Trash Edit)

chris lake

We’re not sure if Tommy Trash has any shortcomings in his life, but we are damn sure that lack of effort is not among them. A week ago he released his remix of “Ladi Dadi,” he followed that up with his remix of “Unite Us.” Today, Chris Lake’s “Build Up” gets a heavy dose of awesome injected into it. Remember, this is an edit and not a full blown remix. This means that both the original and the edit will sound similar, but Tommy’s packs a little more punch. This reminds me a little of Steve Angello’s edit of “The Moment;” the slightest of changes can make the biggest differences. Be sure to check out Chris Lake’s previous single, “Sundown,” as it is another classic production made by one of the best in the business.

EDMFacts joins Twitter, aims to be your one-stop-shop for musical knowledge

295996_259580054086954_139999882711639_834041_1204261438_n

Let’s welcome to the Twitter world a new informational account that caters to the EDM connoisseur, @EDMFacts. EDMFacts pays homage to the producers, products, festivals, and other key players that make the proverbial EDM world go round. While facts accounts are nothing new (@OMGFacts, @OMGFactsAnimals, @OMGFactsSex, etc.), this one is innovative and actually quite interesting. Instead of belittling EDM, it offers relevant but obscure information that sheds light on the talent and skills of our oft-criticized genre. For example, did you know that Alesso sold his scooter when he was 16 to buy a Macbook and Logic? Adding to the account’s legitimacy, it has been followed and retweeted by artists like A-Trak, Kaskade, and Laidback Luke. If you’re already on Twitter and sick of OMG facts, you may want to give this account a follow.

Feed Me’s ‘Escape from Electric Mountain’ EP: the Dancing Astronaut review

feed-me-escape-from-electric-mountain

Jon Gooch’s electro act, Feed Me, has seen repeated success that past few years with his unique production skills and impeccable sound engineering. Yet, despite his talent, he continues to be one of the most under-appreciated producers in the game today. After the release of his first EP, Feed Me’s Big Adventure back in 2010, anyone with a pair of headphones knew to expect big things out of deadmau5′s prodigal son. His sound is unmistakable – from the first note to the last – every production is a sonic journey, an effortless blend of dubstep, electro, and drum and bass that exists in a genre all its own.

On his third EP, Escape from Electric Mountain, this British producer continues to create tracks outside of his comfort zone.  From drum and bass, to mooombahton, to electro and back again, EFEM is nothing short of gold and acts as the perfect precursor to his upcoming TEETH tour.

Sebastian Ingrosso & Alesso – Calling “Lose My Mind” (Preview 2)

Ingrosso + Alesso @ Pacha - 13

Last week, Ingrosso & Alesso gave us a small teaser of what we could expect from the vocal version of “Calling.” They follow up that preview with their next installment. It’s 22 seconds of pure vocals, all to be ended without the drop. We think that Ingrosso and Alesso love seeing their fans squirm with excitement — the perfect mixture of slight cruelty blended with a heavy dose of “building up the anticipation.” We’ve all heard the saying “it if aint broke don’t fix it,” however, we think the vocal mix may have the ability to surpass the instrumental version. What are your thoughts?

Porter Robinson follows Tiesto, signs exclusive residency with XS, Surrender, and Encore Beach Club

PORTER_ROBINSON_GENERAL_BY_ALEXANDER_JACO low-res

Tiesto recently announced his exclusive residency at the Wynn Hotel and everyone else seems to be following suit. Today we are glad to announce that electro superstar, Porter Robinson, has signed a similar residency as well. Needless to say, the allure of Wynn Las Vegas is certainly attracting the world’s brightest talent. Is this due to the Wynn’s lavishness? Or maybe it’s because the Wynn throws the best parties? No matter the reason — the Wynn clubs all happen to be the hot spots in Sin City. Be sure to check out his kick off party at Surrender Nightclub on Saturday, February 18th.
