Feed Me’s ‘Escape from Electric Mountain’ EP: the Dancing Astronaut review

feed-me-escape-from-electric-mountain

Jon Gooch’s electro act, Feed Me, has seen repeated success that past few years with his unique production skills and impeccable sound engineering. Yet, despite his talent, he continues to be one of the most under-appreciated producers in the game today. After the release of his first EP, Feed Me’s Big Adventure back in 2010, anyone with a pair of headphones knew to expect big things out of deadmau5′s prodigal son. His sound is unmistakable – from the first note to the last – every production is a sonic journey, an effortless blend of dubstep, electro, and drum and bass that exists in a genre all its own.

On his third EP, Escape from Electric Mountain, this British producer continues to create tracks outside of his comfort zone.  From drum and bass, to mooombahton, to electro and back again, EFEM is nothing short of gold and acts as the perfect precursor to his upcoming TEETH tour.

Sebastian Ingrosso & Alesso – Calling “Lose My Mind” (Preview 2)

Ingrosso + Alesso @ Pacha - 13

Last week, Ingrosso & Alesso gave us a small teaser of what we could expect from the vocal version of “Calling.” They follow up that preview with their next installment. It’s 22 seconds of pure vocals, all to be ended without the drop. We think that Ingrosso and Alesso love seeing their fans squirm with excitement — the perfect mixture of slight cruelty blended with a heavy dose of “building up the anticipation.” We’ve all heard the saying “it if aint broke don’t fix it,” however, we think the vocal mix may have the ability to surpass the instrumental version. What are your thoughts?

Porter Robinson follows Tiesto, signs exclusive residency with XS, Surrender, and Encore Beach Club

PORTER_ROBINSON_GENERAL_BY_ALEXANDER_JACO low-res

Tiesto recently announced his exclusive residency at the Wynn Hotel and everyone else seems to be following suit. Today we are glad to announce that electro superstar, Porter Robinson, has signed a similar residency as well. Needless to say, the allure of Wynn Las Vegas is certainly attracting the world’s brightest talent. Is this due to the Wynn’s lavishness? Or maybe it’s because the Wynn throws the best parties? No matter the reason — the Wynn clubs all happen to be the hot spots in Sin City. Be sure to check out his kick off party at Surrender Nightclub on Saturday, February 18th.

Free download: SHM vs Knifeparty – Antidote (Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano re-fixxx)

Sunnery-James-Ryan-Marciano

If everything seems better when it’s free, then the same can certainly be said for music. Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano are giving away their re-fixxx of Swedish House Mafia’s new hit, “Antidote.” The dutch duo’s version chops up the vocals and inserts a steady rhythm of drums, while still preserving the original’s beat and awesomeness. SJRM’s fresh take on the popular — not to mention oft-played — track is definitely worth a listen. For those of us who love the original but have already begun to tire of it, this may be just the antidote you need.

Rank 1 & Jochen Miller ft. Sarah Bettens – Wild and Perfect Day

72a3d0a30ea5

Legendary Dutch duo Rank 1 has teamed up with Jochen Miller yet again to bring us another trance masterpiece. “Wild and Perfect Day” employs catchy vocals by Sarah Bettens to complement the blend of melody and bass which keeps the song going from start to finish. There are two different versions of this track: a clean extended mix that starkly contrasts the dub version which is more upbeat and raw. Both are available on Beatport now, and either edition should satisfy any trance fan.

Audible – Summit (Miss Nine Remix)

DJ Miss Nine

Coming off her remix of David Puentez’s “Things We Do 4 Love,” Miss Nine, gives us her rendition of “Summit.” This was just released on Macarize Records which is gaining traction as one of the best progressive house labels around. The soft piano riffs adds to the overall elegance of the tune, while the pulsing synths packs the right amount of punch. As you proceed towards the end of the track, you will notice an elongated segment filled with distortions and craziness. This remix is begging for a mash up that blends progressive with some hard electro. We are willing to bet that a few DA followers can craft up something spectacular.

Spring Awakening Music Festival to bring Skrillex, Daft Punk to Soldier Field in Chicago?

Spring-awakenign-1-800x600

We all know that the internet is a breeding ground for hoaxes and hearsay, but when we heard some buzzing about a so-called Spring Awakening Music Festival at Soldier Field in Chicago — one with rumored headliners Skrillex and Daft Punk — we had to start investigating ourselves. After some snooping, we’ve verified that there is definitely something big planned for June in the Windy City. Read on for what we know so far.

Pnau – Unite Us (Tommy Trash Remix)

Another week has passed and Tommy Trash has delivered yet another great remix. Whenever you see Tommy’s name in a remix package, you know his is going to be the best one.

“Unite Us” has that typical sinister robotic build up, which allows us to prepare for an intense drop. He blended the drops of “Monkey See Monkey Do” and “We Feel Love” to give us the power we have come to expect from Tommy. We can’t wait to see him at LAVO in New York City, which is going to be one hell of a night. Will we see you there?

Alex Kenji – Chasing Clouds (Original Mix)

alex-kenji

Right on the heels of his “Acid As 303” release, Alex Kenji, creates an uptempo tech-progressive tune called “Chasing Clouds.” The kicking synths and rhythmic bassline are engineered perfectly and provide us a welcomed balance between hard hitting and chill. Fast forward to 3:30 if you want to get straight into the action. While this may not be as tech-oriented as his tracks released alongside Manuel De La Mare, we always know that a Kenji production is worth our time. Alex’s remix of Plastic Funk and Dave Kurtis’ “Shake” has been added as a bonus below.

Nicky Romero – Generation 303 (Original Mix)

nicky romero

Nicky Romero’s body of work the past 4 months has been unparalleled by any artist regardless of genre. His December releases of “Toulouse” and “Haters Gonna Hate” were chart toppers and his free giveaways of “Freaky” and “Slacking” paired him up with Fedde Le Grand. His newest single “Generation 303″ samples the Chemical Brother’s classic “Block Rockin’ Beats,” replacing the original drum and bass style with an acid-house feel that is reminiscent of “Teasing Mr. Charlie” and “Pacha On Acid.” This multi-talented producer can make anything from progressive to electro and continues to absolutely crush it. Nicky’s first release on Tiesto’s Musical Freedom imprint could be his biggest since “Flash.” What do you think?
