This is the second Caspa / Hudson collabo we’ve posted and the high expectations have been met. Caspa really knows how to make dubstep sound smooth. Thanks to Enko for the find.
Check out some footage from one of Sidney’s sets earlier this month. Huge opening to the video with Booka Shade vs MANDY’s Body Language. You know the audience is into it when they’re singing the melody of a song, no not singing the words, but singing a melody. There are plenty of gems in there including Sidney’s latest hits, Panorama and Punkass.
Will.i.am has become a controversial figure in electronic dance music lately. I can’t think of another pop star who has been invited to play at all the biggest electronic music venues like Will.i.am. I wasn’t at EDC in Los Angeles this year but I heard complaints that Will.i.am ruined the show by mixing in some non electronic music and his own poppy Black Eyed Peas tracks.
At the same time I see something positive in what Will.i.am is doing. I respect him for having the versatility to enter the dance music scene. Coming from a pure hip-hop background that is a big deal. At the end of the day music is music and people who are willing to explore new genres to develop their sound and creativity deserve some praise. There are definitely two sides to the coin. Some people may cringe when Lil Jon jumps on stage, but others might derive some satisfaction from the idea that house music is reaching a new audience.
Check out Will.i.am at Noxx Antwerp, one of the biggest clubs in Belgium.
We need to get some polling functionality on DA. I’d be curious to see what people choose:
1) I wish Will.i.am would leave house music alone
2) I’m glad that Will.i.am is playing house music… but I still wouldn’t see him play
3) I love Will.i.am – I want to see him Boom Boom Now!
We posted some footage from this weekend earlier but this segment gives us some short interview snippets with the DJs. Great Youtube job by the Las Vegas Nightlife Group promoters.
Here is a preview of Sidney Samson’s latest track, PunkAss. The illustration work is very nice. It’s good to see more and more money getting poured into House music! iAMsterdam!
This is one of the most entertaining videos I’ve ever seen. Epic. Some people are trying to argue that the characters in the video are supposed to be gay but I think they’re just supposed to be “Bros” (like in the frat bro type of way). My favorite part is the dance scene at 3:07- reminds me of Night at the Roxbury. If you want more Grum check out Heartbeats and Can’t Shake This Feeling.
Check out this really nice brand new music video from The Shapeshifters, who you should recognize from many previous legendary hits including Lola’s Theme. Helter Skelter, a funky modern song that has been receiving a lot of club play, shows that The Shapeshifter have grown with the times. Thanks to Defected for the video.
Buy the single here. There is definitely good potential for some remixes for this tune.
Here is the video for one of this summer’s most remixed songs. Not your usual dance music video, as in it isn’t hot girls dancing in a gym or on the beach, but I like it.
