Rihanna’s video for Calvin Harris-produced track,”We Found Love,” hit the web yesterday. It’s definitely one of the more emotional videos we’ve seen recently, but it also manages to keep a happy uptempo vibe. We’re glad to see Calvin make an appearance in the video, though it’s in a typical low-key cameo DJing an outdoor mud-filled rave. Yeah, we’ll just stop there and you can watch for yourselves.
Kaskade’s upcoming album, Fire and Ice, is set to drop in just under a week, and buzz on the web is heating up ahead of the dual disc release. A new video posted on the mega DJ’s YouTube page reveals some of the behind-the-scenes action that went into making the Fire and the Ice — exposing the origin of his unlikely collaboration with Skrillex as well as some insight into the vocalists he selected for the album. Yes, this video is essentially five minutes of torture if you’re a Kaskade-aholic, but at least we’re making the wait a little less boring.
It’s also our duty to inform you that despite the text in the video, the official album release has been moved up to October 24th (this coming Monday). We hear the shift comes from — get this — the Coldplay album release scheduled for Tuesday. Yeah, we don’t get it either (though the Fedde Le Grand remix to “Paradise” is pretty awesome).
Stay tuned for an official DA review — we might even hook you up early.
Martin Solveig reliably produces over-the-top music videos for his dance-pop anthems, and the just-released video for “Big in Japan” is no exception. In it, Solveig and his partner-in-crime “Monseur Lafaille” run wild through Japan, piloting a helicopter over Tokyo, hitting up a geisha parlor and getting taken down by Inglourious Basterds star Melanie Laurent. We love that Solveig never takes himself – or his videos – too seriously, and this one is as fun to watch as the song is to dance to. Take a look below!
The video for Steve Aoki‘s sure-to-be-smash single “Earthquakey People” dropped last night (this morning?) on MTV Clubland, the network’s late-night outpost for dance music. We’re not thrilled with the video for a song this major premiering at 3 AM – but we are glad to see Aoki and Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo rocking out in an awesomely animated, explosively colorful video that suits the song’s upbeat, electro-pop groove. The dirtier “Sequel” version of “Earthquakey People” is available for purchase on Beatport now, while the video version will be released on iTunes October 25th. Check it out above and let us know what you think!
The multi-talented Nervo sisters have long been DA favorites, but they’re poised to break into the mainstream with their Aoki-and-Afrojack-produced single “We’re All No One.” The song is Mim and Liv’s first official artist release, as well as their first track for Astralworks/EMI, the label behind Swedish House Mafia and other dance heavyweights. MTV went behind the scenes at the video shoot for the quirky disco-pop track in advance of its Friday premiere — check it out here!
This is the third video for SHM’s “Save The World,” and it’s by far our favorite. Don’t get us wrong – we like heroic dogs and EDC concert footage just as much as the next fans (in fact, we were in the crowd while the EDC video was shot). But there’s something much more original about this concept, released by Axwell in conjunction with Carlsberg beer. The video features super slow-motion footage of a beautiful girl getting ready for a night out, then pregaming with her friends, then dancing her face off at an Axwell show in Stockholm, Sweden. With stuff like this, it’s really no surprise that SHM sold out their Madison Square Garden show in 9 minutes.
DJs From Mars have been releasing some of the best podcasts around this past year. Their remixes go about being incredibly underrated in our neck of the woods(US of A), and their original mixes even more so. They put some nice visuals to their latest release. Check the above video and their mixes on their Soundcloud.
BONUS: Sophie Ellis Bextor’s latest track “Starlight” is a solid synth-pop track that was released about 6 months ago. DJs from Mars dropped their remix and with their sawed out bass line and booming big room pads they take this track to another level! So grab somebody sexy or just sexy enough (’tis the season to be DTF) and convince them to give it up to you during the siren-laced drop at 4:41!

Laidback Luke and Example comes out with their highly anticipated track “Natural Disaster” which features many remixes that cover the EDM spectrum. Judging by the music video (posted above) and the previously released instrumental mix you knew this tune was going to deliver on point. The original mix features Example’s prominent vocals with a classy piano build up, Laidback Luke then provides his quality synths, percusssions, and drums to then turn this into a dancefloor destroyer.

“We are able to accomodate the people that Ibiza and other secondary markets can’t…we are sending a message to the world that this is the nightclub capital of the world.”
“You Got To Go” relays Above & Beyond’s talents through various segments of the track. You can tell the difference between the beginning, middle, and end of the tune, it is as if they are telling a story. The build up (beginning) has a soothing feeling as it slowly incorporates Zoe Johnston’s vocals and leads you towards the meat of the song. As we head towards the middle, the sweeping bassline takes over control (Afrojack reference anyone?) and sends you into outer space as the various sounds engulf you in ecstasy. The end allows for things to heat up for a short period of time and the vocals play a very prominent role right before the track starts to fade out. We consider this our favorite release since “Sun & Moon“, what do you guys think?

When Kyau & Albert put this remix together they were thinking one thing: “we are going to crush it”. Their faster paced remix keeps the energy at unmatched levels. This kind of stuff really puts you on another planet, as if you were zoning out everything and everyone but the music. If a remix can do that – it is damn good in our book.
