We’ve seen plenty of creative DJ videos in our day, but Sebastian Ingrosso’s promo for DJ Mag’s Top 100 is one of the most memorable we’ve ever seen. The animated minute-long trailer features a DJing horse in the Disney and Pixar style, and is set to Seb’s smash single with Alesso “Calling,” which is set for release tomorrow on Beatport. Of course it incorporates one of his trademark lines from Take One(it involves “shit fucking organized shit”), and also has SHM-trademark pyro — though this time with a twist. Watch the video above to see for yourselves, but otherwise be sure to hit the link below and get voting. There are just over three weeks left!
With Alesso at Electric Zoo NY this weekend, Seb at Nocturnal Wonderland later in the month, and the “biggest news ever” from SHM set to drop imminently, September is shaping up to be quite a busy month!
Yes, you have heard a million versions of this song during EDM events. Hell, even Avicii has dropped various bootlegs of this in previous sets (you can see why due to its unbelievable feel good sound). “So Much Love” is an upbeat house track that was released in 2005 by the Freeloaders. Fedde uses the technology of 2011 and his expertise to create a tech house version that is sure to be a hit not only within Fedde’s circle, but many big name DJ’s. It is slightly ‘darker’ than the original – fast forward to about 4:27 and feel the ‘love’ flowing in.

DJ Afrojack held his first Ustream broadcast last night, inviting his fans and followers to join him in the studio — literally. We tuned in as soon as we saw him announce the stream on Twitter, and have to say, this guy seems like a pretty cool guy to hang out with. He previewed a bunch of upcoming tracks, including collaborations with Deadmau5 and Shermanology, and we have a sneaking suspicion that another track in the works is called “Robots Like to Have Sex.” Unfortunately he cut the Shermanology track early, saying “yeah, you’ll get this shit later,” and continued to taunt us by saying “I like the drop too.” It was fascinating to watch a true artist at work, playing what seemed like random out-of-place samples before putting it all together for what sounded a real track. Read on for some more takeaways from the impromptu mass-studio sesh.
Way back in November of last year we sat down with Sonny Moore, and picked his brain. This was back during Skrillex’s infancy, before he had become the juggernaut that he is today. When asked who he felt some of his major influences were he cited the early 90′s acts on Warp Records like Aphex Twin, Autechre, and Squarepusher. It is no surprise then that this video is extremely reminiscent of Aphex Twin’s “Come to Daddy” — one of the all time creepiest music videos ever. In the video above it’s almost as if Skrillex is paying homage to the dark electronic acts he grew up with. Don’t get what we mean? Give it a watch yourself.
You may not have heard of Defected, but it’s got a big webshow called Defected TV that’s usually a fun way to kill some time. The latest edition of Defected’s Clubland Adventures is perfect for summer, and covers the resurgence of beachclubbing and gives a little history lesson too. The video features a whole lot of footage from Ushuaia in Ibiza and interviews with the club’s directors, and has tons of other interviews and a countdown of the top beachclubs in the world. If this doesn’t make you want to go to a huge day-rager and skip the standard indoor club experience, we don’t know what will.
The single, “Killer” was inspired by the idea of subliminal messaging that it is a DJ’s job to kill the club and get the crowds to musically escape – a job The Disco Fries nor Clinton Sparks take for granted when they are in the DJ booth. The trio decided against taking an expected approach with the video and instead created a visually stimulated story, packed with sideshow oddities and creepy people.
“We wanted to do a single and video that was outside of our comfort zone that also had elements you wouldn’t normally hear in one of our productions,” said The Disco Fries. “ Clinton was able to bring life to the melody, lyrics and visual for the song and we feel we definitely pushed the boundaries of what people expect us to deliver in a collaboration.”
Shawn Sabo and Brad Roulier (the Manufactured Superstars) create their second music video with an appearance from vocalist Selina Albright. This track was a remake to Donna Allen’s 80′s hit “Serious” and features flashes from their performances at EDC Las Vegas, Global Dance Festival, and Beta Nightclub in their hometown of Denver. This entire video reminded us of our personal experience with them at Playhouse Hollywood and Ruby Skye San Francisco.
Nicky Romero’s remix of “Flash” has been tearing it up in virtually every major DJ set this summer, but the man himself has also been a tare throughout America as well. This first episode of Nicky Romero TV brings viewers on a journey from Chicago all the way to Miami, with stops in San Diego and LA among others. The video gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at what it’s like to be on tour with the DJ, complete with private jets and scantily clad ladies — definitely not a bad life by any stretch of the imagination. We’re absolutely loving these DJ videos, but can’t forget about the ones from Max Vangeli and Avicii as well. Oh, and if you’re interested in even more great video content, be sure to head over to our YouTube channel as well!
PS: It features the upcoming Nicky Romero & DJ Apster collaboration, “Bootcamp,” which is finally available here.
Check out the official video for Steve Aoki and Afrojack’s recently released vocal mix of “No Beef.” It’s got cameos from a who’s who of personalities, including Lil Jon, Flo-rida, Holly Madison, and features Afroki generally killing it in Las Vegas. We can’t deny it’d be wild to live these kinds of lives ourselves, but hey, no beef. Have you ever seen DJs seem genuinely this happy?
The Electric Forest festival is a truly unique musical experience that meshes countless genres of music with 4 days of camping in the Michigan woods. The acts are accompanied by large scale art installations and sculptures — think Burning Man in a forest. The production value on this video is impressive, and since we did not have the chance to experience Electric Forest ourselves, we figured we’d share. Oh, and don’t forget to check out our YouTube page for more awesome video content!
