Dancing Astronaut & Reboot Recap: Mogill & EEKO 6.18.11

Last month Dancing Astronaut teamed up with Reboot Music & ATL Night Life for our first ever East coast event. While its safe to say our inaugural party was a success, we brought the visual evidence to prove it. Yes, that’s an actual Astronaut dancing at the 1:15 mark. Enjoy!

Mustard Pimp – ZHM (Dada Life Remix + Official Music Video)

Before you listen to the Dada Life remix, make sure to watch the music video posted above (directed by Behn Fannin). Usually when you watch something it generates some sort of emotional reaction, however, after watching this music video we are not quite sure whether we should be laughing out loud, slightly aroused (c’mon the chick is hot), or just plain WTF (yes, I just created this into an emotion). Either way after listening to this dark electro track you are going to want to see him live. Dancing Astronaut has provided you an avenue where you can win tickets to go see Mustard Pimp play on August 5th.

The Dada Life remix shoves the original mix into their ‘meat grinder’. In case you forgot you can definitely hear the use of their sausage fattener app to make this song ‘fatter’.

Max Vangeli mini documentary hits YouTube, we hope other DJs notice

There’s no denying that DJs are a hot commodity right now, and connecting with their fanbase is an easy way to harness support. Yesterday we caught Afrojack’s EDC wrapup video, and today we present one from Max Vangeli during Miami Music Week. This “mini-documentary” features Max giving some great commentary over video footage taken at various parties and locations over the sunny seven days. Cameos from Kaskade and AN21 make it even more worth the watch, but the production quality alone is really impressive. If you’ve got six minutes to spare, be sure to click that play button above — and don’t forget to watch our own videos on YouTube for even more similar content. Shouldn’t it be required of all DJs to do one of these?

EDC Las Vegas 2011: DA’s video flashback (updated – Afrojack’s flashback)

*DA Video removed at the request of Insomniac Productions*

As you know, the Dancing Astronaut crew traveled to Las Vegas for the 2011 Electric Daisy Carnival. Enjoy the sights and sounds as we capture the best moments of this amazing 3-day festival in the video above — just make sure you remember to watch it in HD.

Update: We were asked by Insomniac Productions, the folks behind EDC, to remove our video. We weren’t given an explanation, but maybe they just want to sell more tickets to their upcoming “EDC Experience” film. Either way, we didn’t want to leave you hanging so we’re replacing the video with Afrojack’s Insomniac-approved recap instead. Or you can just head over to YouTube where there are hundreds of other lower-quality cellphone videos that have been available for weeks.

Avicii – “Fade Into Darkness” promo video

There’s not much else to say about Avicii’s upcoming masterpiece, “Fade Into Darkness,” but here’s something to watch while you wait (impatiently) for an official release. The production quality of this video is quite good, and we’d be lying if we said there weren’t some hairs that stood up on end while we watched it for the first time. Them most unfortunate part of the whole thing is the lack of a release date beyond a “coming soon” teaser at the end. Come on Tim — we’re getting impatient here!

Avicii @ Marquee Dayclub 7.2.11

Pre-scandal Tiger Woods was one of the most memorable athletes of our era. The tournaments he entered were easily more marketable, as he had this mystique about him that just attracted people. Everyone wanted him to win – especially the PGA who needed him to for monetary reasons. Same thing happened when Michael Jordan came out of a tunnel in the mid 90′s. MJ jerseys are still abundant and his shoeline is a best seller. What does this have to do with Avicii you ask? Respect. Avicii is the current MJ/Tiger of the current EDM era. At EDC this year, when Avicii was performing on the main stage it was just as crowded as when the Swedish House Mafia was playing. The only difference is – there are THREE of them and only one of Avicii.

Sidney Samson ft. Tara McDonald – Dynamite (Official Music Video)

The “Dynamite” music video is  more ‘artistic’ compared to the usual crazy club videos we have grown accustomed to. We ensure the fellas will like the slight girl on girl action in this one! If you haven’t already make sure to check out the Nicky Romero remix here.

Kaskade talks IDENTITY Festival in new teaser video

The ID Festival is just over a month away from rolling into cities across America, and headliner Kaskade has just dropped this three minute video clip talking up the show. He points out that this is unlike anything he’s ever done in the past, and that the whole tour bus / traveling stage setup is “very rock and roll.” The mega DJ goes on to mention that he’s putting together some special stuff in conjunction with some of ID’s other big acts (fellow headliner Steve Aoki got a curious shoutout), and seeing him chat in an intimate setting has us even more excited about what’s in store. Check out the whole video to see for yourselves, and don’t forget to hit this link to purchase tickets before other people realize how awesome this is going to be and they all sell out. Thank us later.

Manufactured Superstars at The Playhouse Hollywood: A Space Odyssey

Manufactured Superstars @ LA Playhouse

When we were initially approached about checking out events at The Playhouse we were pumped to experience what this powerhouse had to offer. As far as we’d known the Playhouse was one of the hottest clubs in LA, but catered to more of a hip hop audience than EDM. After a quick look at its events calendar we had to tip our hats to the Hollywood nightlife juggernaut and thank Steven Parkens , the man who made it happen, for the experience we were about to embark upon!

As of June 16th they’d confirmed some of the biggest names in house including the Manufactured Superstars (founders of Beatport), Sharam, Nicky Romero, and even Tiesto. Insomniac Events official pre-party for EDC (when it was still in LA) was held at Playhouse with appearances by big names like Chuckie, Steve Angello, the Hilton sisters, and many other celebrities who are on top of the fastest growing trend in the music industry.

Playhouse is making all the right moves to cater toward the ever-growing EDM world and this is a testament to their longevity. Whereas nightlife destinations in the LA area are out of business after 6 months and Playhouse has been hovering at the top for 2 years now! DA would’ve been ecstatic to experience any and all of these shows but given our Bay Area base we could only make it down for a weekend show — read about our experience when the Manufactured Superstars came to town after the break.

Wolfgang Gartner ft. Will.I.Am – Forever (Official Music Video)

Crazy rendition of Wolfgang’s “Forever”. Will.I.Am gets his head put on different bodies throughout the video. Creepy, funny, or just plain weird? Entertaining nonetheless. Watch it!
