  • EDC Las Vegas has announced a number of major structural and logistic changes set to take effect for the festival’s 2018 installment
  • EDC will occur a month earlier than in previous years, slated for May 18th-20th this year
  • EDC will offer extended festival hours, opening the festival with early-entry opening ceremonies

  • Those that stay in hotels should also see a decrease in commute time, with construction on the 15 Freeway set to be completed prior to the festival
  • Tickets to EDC Las Vegas 2018 will go on sale on Thursday, September 28th at 12 PM PST
  • The festival will offer a new price tier and various layaway plans

The mystique that has shrouded Pasquale Rotella’s intended alterations to Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas has evaporated, replaced by a newfound sense of clarity as the Insomniac founder finally revealed the nature of his long advertised changes. Rotella has rolled out a highly transformative series of adjustments to the festival, modifications that touch on the event’s dates, hours, ticket pricing tiers, and lodging options.

EDC Las Vegas will remain a one-week, three-day festival dispelling the widely entertained suspicion that Rotella might expand EDC’s Vegas edition to a multi weekend affair. The dates of the festival have shifted for its 2018 iteration—the festival will notably return to Las Vegas Motor Speedway, but will do so from Friday, May 18th through Sunday, May 20th. EDC Las Vegas had previously been annually held in mid to late June. The acceleration of the event’s dates of production, however, may alleviate the excessive heat bemoaned by 2017 attendees.

While Rotella has not offered many details with respect to the amount of time by which the festival will be extended, EDC Las Vegas will not only feature extended festival hours this year, but will begin with early-entry opening ceremonies.

The largest change in the structure of EDC Las Vegas arrives in attendees’ lodging choices. Vegas ticket holders will have the opportunity to camp at the festival for the first time. Insomniac will present festival goers with the ability to take part in its inaugural camping program, where attendees may rent air-conditioned GA tents complete with dust-control canvas walls, artificial grass flooring, and electrical outlets to accommodate a six-camper maximum. The brand will also offer a VIP tent option, with the same dust-control canvas walls and grass flooring boasted by the GA tents. The swankier tents will differ from the GA tents in terms of their amenities giving premier tent purchasers the option to enjoy twin or queen-sized beds, linens, pillows, towels, tables, chairs, and lights for two to four campers.

Festival goers may also bring their own RVs to the event, as Insomnic will provide RV owners with pre-arranged on-site power access. Those who would prefer to camp in an RV need not worry if they do not own one, as the festival will additionally rent fully outfitted RVs, complete with linens and pillows.

Insomniac’s new camping program is a response to the traffic woes of the festival’s previous year, where traffic to the festival led to hours of delays for many. The camping areas are intended to eliminate some of the problematic vehicular traffic caused by EDC by offering campers a walkable and short commute to the festival.

Those who opt for the traditional hotel route should also hope to see their commute to the event shortened, as Insomniac has handed the reigns of their EDC shuttle program over to an independent company responsible for some of the nation’s “largest music and sporting events.” Anticipated completed construction of the 15 Freeway near festival grounds will result in the installment of three new lanes that should expedite the arrival process.

Insomniac concludes its comprehensive set of changes to EDC Las Vegas with minor alterations to the ticket purchase policy. Tickets to the festival will go on sale Thursday, September 28th at 12 PM PST. Ticket purchasers will enjoy newfound access to a wider range of ticketing tiers and layaway plans. Early Owl GA 3-day passes will begin at $325, whereas VIP 3-day passes start at $699.

Those that do not obtain Early Owl tickets will be able to buy festival passes from the newly instituted Wise Owl tier, where 3-day GA passes will appear at $340. A final tier, the Later Owl tier, awaits those who will buy their tickets at a later date, offering 3-day GA tickets for $355. All ticket types will feature layaway options. Insomniac will provide more details on the layaway options as the ticket sale date approaches.
