How to make an episode for Dancing Astronaut Radio

Step 1: Send us a proposed tracklist and link to any of your previous work so we can approve you to be on the podcast.
Step 2: Once we have approved you, make your mix into podcast-ready format. This means a .m4a file with album art and track markers. Use the Dancing Astronaut podcast logo on this page for the album art and make sure to name every track when you make track markers. If you already know how to do this skip to step 7. If you have a Mac, follow the steps below to prepare your podcast on Garageband.
Step 3: Select “podcast” from the new project menu in Garageband. Pick a name for your project and click “Create.”
Step 4: Drag the podcast album art to the Episode Artwork slot.
Step 5: Drag your mix (in any format: mp3, wav etc) to the playhead.
Step 6: Set track markers at every point in the mix where a new track starts. Track markers can either be set by pressing the “P” key or by choosing “Edit > Add Marker.” When you add your markers, make sure to name all your tracks. Creating track markers allows listers of the podcast to see what song is playing and skip between songs.
Step 7: Save in podcast format by selecting “Share > Export podcast to disk…” from the menu. Select the inputs as listed below and click “Export.”
Step 8: After the podcast has been saved in .m4a format, upload it to a file sharing website and send us the link. Also send us a picture of yourself or a logo that is at least 500 pixels wide. If you would like us to send you traffic from our blog post, give us a link to your website.
Dancing Astronaut Radio is located on the iTunes store here. Email us with any questions. Happy mixing!
