Battle of the Beats: Albin Myers vs. Tocadisco – Jump

Battle of the Beats is a feature from Dancing Astronaut that pits two tracks that share the same title against one another to determine which production represents the name better. With the dance music community continually growing, producers, mashup artists and DJs alike constantly create new music, often of the same name.  Now we are opening it up to our readers to weigh in on whose rendition takes the proverbial cake.

Albin Myers – Jump

Released roughly ten times on seven different labels, Albin Myer’s “Jump” was first declared tech house by Joia Records in early 2010 before opinion was split on its progressive/electro qualities. Though Beatport’s indecision on the classification mirrors Myer’s diverse range, whatever the genre, the nearly 8-minute tune delivers. With a punchy brass section, straightforward vocal and bouncing xylophone-like melody that transforms into pure synth, though the slinky tune won’t have you pogoing about, at the very least it will induce hip movement.

Tocadisco – Jump

First released on Dim Mak’s New Noise Volume 2 compilation in March of 2012, Tocadisco’s “Jump” was thrust back into the spotlight a year later when it came out on the label’s Greatest Hits of 2012 Volume 2. A solid release, the tune stood the test of time, but so too has the prolific producer. Though the thumping electro “Jump” is the only Tocadisco tune to be released on Dim Mak, with releases from Astralwerks to Ultra, F*** Me I’m Famous to Hed Kandi, Toolroom Records to his own Toca45 Recordings, the Deutsch DJ has 15 years of productions down and plenty more where they came from.

So whose “Jump” got your bounce on?
