New Nervo Nation episode features Michael Woods interview, Australian accents

Nervo

If you’ve been looking for another mix to get you through the day, check out the latest episode of Nervo Nation that the Australian duo just posted to its SoundCloud. The hour-long show has a good mix of popular tracks and new ones, not to mention a solid Nervo / Nicky Romero mashup of the month in the form of “Toulouse is Irresistible.” If the music alone isn’t enough to sway you, there’s also an interview with Michael Woods — which of course means you get to hear Mim and Liv’s hypnotic Australian accents too. Unfortunately there’s no download option, but stream your heart out on SoundCloud.

PS: Don’t forget to watch our “Behind The Booth” with Nervo if you haven’t seen it yet!

Olav Basoski – The Rain (Original Mix)

olav-basloski-the-rain

Every so often a track is released that is so infectiously feel-good even the dubstep fans among us can’t help but get caught up in the euphoria — “The Rain” is one of those tracks. Olav Basoski effortlessly combines a driving bass line with silky smooth vocals. As the track builds so does the energy, culminating in the perfect synergy of space-age synths and hard-hitting kicks.

If you’ve got a soft spot for female vocals and disco beats, be sure to grab this one on BeatPort.

Umek – Freak it Out (Original Mix)

Umek - Escape from Wonderland

Tech house legend Umek does his best Afrojack impression with the bleepy, bouncy “Freak it Out.” It’s endearing, energetic, and in classic Umek style, will probably have you tapping your right big toe even if you’re in absolutely no mood to expend any kinetic energy. Watching the lovable Slovenian perform is an absolute treat. Every build and break comes with a natural ease, and while you’ll probably be fist-pumping by the end of his set, you’re allowed to take your own sweet time to get there. Umek was a standout performer at Escape from Wonderland 2011, and we can’t wait to hear him drop “Freak it Out” live.

Jackback ft. David Guetta, Nicky Romero, Sia – Wild Ones (Preview)

cover_jackback1

Nicky Romero just posted this preview on his SoundCloud a few minutes ago and the response has already been overwhelmingly positive. If you are a sucker for piano house, then you will be blasting “Wild Ones” nonstop: the uplifting synths and distortions in the background make this song an absolute joy to listen to on high volume. We are grateful that we don’t have to wait an inordinate amount of time for the release, as it will hit Beatport in just a week. Does Nicky Romero have any other collaborations under his sleeve after “Wild Ones” and his track with Avicii come out? Stay tuned to find out!

Release Date: January 30th

Ian Carey & Rosette ft. Timbaland & Brasco – Amnesia (Various Mixes)

Ian Carey and Rosette team up with Timbaland (you should know who he is) and Brasco to create a hard hitting electro pop tune called “Amnesia.” The drop features a few of the standard bleeps that were part of the quintessential Dutch house track in the early part of 2010. There are a ton of remixes in this package, but a few of the notables are Cazzette, Ziggy Stardust, and Firebeatz renditions. Let’s go through them below, but first listen to the original version.

Quintino – We Gonna Rock (Original Mix)

quintino

Quintino is prepped for an onslaught on 2012. He recently released “The One And Only” and quickly follows it up with “We Gonna Rock.” If you are into robotic sounds (a little Daft Punk-esque) with some serious power, this track is a must listen. We’ve noticed that Q (we are going to make this his official nickname) has a variety of styles. Look back on his previous tracks such as “Selecta” and his remix of “Marry The Night.” There is one thing that is consistent with all his productions – they will surely keep your fists pumping till the wee hours of morning.

Alex Kenji & Manuel De La Mare – Acid As 303 (Original Mix)

manueldelamare-alex-kenji-acid-as-303

Imagine your favorite football team coming out of the locker room and running into a chanting crowd of 70,000-plus people. What would you want to hear in the background as all the commotion was going on? The correct answer is… acid house. What’s even better is that throughout the years we’ve had a few straight up gems from this sub-genre. Think: “Pacha On Acid” and “Teasing Mr. Charlie.” Hell, even LMFAO decided to hop on the bandwagon with “Sexy And I Know It.” The next wave of acid house bangers is starting with “Acid As 303″ and Ash’s “PAPA.” If you ever need an extra dose of energy, avoid pounding a 5-Hour Energy; instead; strap your headphones on and give “Acid As 303″ a listen.

Hardwell – Spaceman (Original Mix)

Hardwell-Philadelphia-850-002

Let’s take a long walk down memory lane. In early 2011, Hardwell started off the year with a big bang coming out with tracks such as “Zero 76,” “Physical,” and “Catch Your Fall.” If January 2012 is any indication, Hardwell is primed for another superb year. “Spaceman” features a similar trouse bassline to “Encoded,” but has a unique hook that causes it to be an enjoyable listening experience. The bass heavy drop is the thickest we’ve heard since his release of “Cobra,” and it thumps extremely hard. Hardwell is one of those guys you mark on your calendar to see – I’ve already requested for Google to alert me when the time is necessary.

Marquee announces 2012 residencies, gives you more reasons to go to Vegas

plexipr_66229478771fb6488c03z_1

Marquee’s quest to become America’s undisputed #1 club continues with the announcement of its 2012 residencies. The list is impressive (by “impressive,” we mean “we have no idea how the folks at the Cosmopolitan can afford to bring in these guys each and every week, but we’re glad that they can”). In its second year, Marquee will welcome back Above & Beyond, Chuckie, Erick Morillo, Kaskade, and Markus Schulz. Redfoo will also return for his “Party Rock Mondays” residency, but with all due respect to the LMFAO-er, he didn’t belong in the previous sentence.

If you aren’t sufficiently impressed yet, Marquee will also bring ATB, Benny Benassi, and Dirty South to the Vegas strip.

Click past the break to see Marquee’s schedule for January, February, and March. See you all in Vegas.

Dirty South & Thomas Gold ft. Kate Elsworth – Eyes Wide Open (Original Mix)

Dirty South at Pacha 13

The trio that created the masterpiece “Alive” provides us with a sequel called “Eyes Wide Open.” Needless to say, this is going to kick some serious ass at the Beatport box office and be played everywhere and anywhere. The production quality is impeccable and Kate Elsworth’s voice carries over this track beautifully. Even the toughest progressive house critics will have to sit back and enjoy what both Dirty South and Thomas Gold have done. The track has the right amount of power (during the drop) to make even the electro fans smile a bit. This will be one of the top 50 tracks of the year – guaranteed.
