Next up on the prestigious Size Records is Quilinez’ premier release “Troll.” This duo is made up of Alexander Lager and Johannes Gustafsson and they are going to be in the spotlight in no time. They have the pathway set to follow along the likes of Tim Mason, An21 & Max Vangeli, and Third Party to name a few. The interesting part of “Troll” is that it almost seems as though it is two songs put together in one. There is a melodious segment capped off by a harder drop that extends throughout the end of the clip. One thing we know for sure is that “Troll” keeps us raging. The creature is out there!
Most DJs put out a tour video following a big show – but not Tiesto. The biggest DJ in the world is partnering with HP for the “In The Booth” series, which will follow him from Paris to Morocco to New York and back again. The first episode takes us both on stage with Tiesto and in his Club Life jet, and we get to meet his hard-working management and tour teams. “In The Booth” finishes in grand fashion with Tiesto’s 248th (!) show of 2011, the massive Home Depot Center gig he put on this summer. We’ve seen footage from the set before, but never from Tiesto’s viewpoint. It’s truly jaw-dropping.
We’ve been digging the sounds from Walden lately, and he’s just posted a brand new hour-long set on his SoundCloud. If you’re not familiar with his music this could be the perfect opportunity to hear his sound, as its full of original tracks. He opens with a tantalizingly-titled ID track, and from there it’s a solid blend of melodic-electro house. It’s not the same progressive house, but something a little easier to listen to when you can’t handle so much bass. Give it a listen for yourselves below.
As if “Original Don” wasn’t funky enough, Flosstradamus slows it down, throws in one hell of a snare, and creates a remix that is even more fun than the original. It may not seem like anything that unique at first, but just wait until the breakdown at 2:45 – that’s when the track goes absolutely apeshit.
Tommy Trash’s second release of the week has all the hallmarks of a TT track: his signature claps and kick drums, the slick synths, the big-room melody. But “Cascade” also boasts a more progressive sound than some of his 2011 hits, a change we’ve noticed in newer tracks like his “Ladi Dadi” and “Antidote” remixes. It’s exciting to see Tommy Trash, already a dynamic and prolific producer, start to branch out into new genres and subgenres. We’re counting down the days until his debut Ultra set – 65, to be exact.

Sebastian Ingrosso’s first 2012 release on his Refune label isn’t by the mafioso himself: he passed the reins to Swanky Tunes, Matisse & Sadko and their progressive smash “The Legend.” What starts off as a dreamy instrumental soon turns into a lush, energetic rhythm with a memorable synth line. “The Legend” has a sound reminiscent of 80s Depeche Mode or Pet Shop Boys, but with modern production value. Have a listen below and grab the track on Beatport.

We have one word for you – mayhem. This remix is what happens when you take the rumbling low end bass of Bassnectar and mix it together with the visceral and unrelenting electronic insanity of the boys of Mustard Pimp. They morph the original from a down tempo, heavy hitting dubstep track into a gritty, acid house one that moves at such a breakneck pace if it weren’t for that familiar squealing bass line it would be unrecognizable from the original. For those of us who prefer the darker side of electronic music, this track is a must have.
The M Machine just debuted their video for “Glow,” a hauntingly beautiful track with an equally haunting music video. Reminiscent of the video for Pearl Jam’s “Jeremy ,” “Glow” follows the life of an abused and bullied young girl who looks to a robotic friend for solace. Watch the video to see the ultraviolence unfold – this is what “The Iron Giant” would look like if he murdered a school full of girls.
“Roman Bromanski” marks the 3rd collaboration between Hatiras and Nom De Strip. Scheduled to be released on January 21st, this track has been supported by Laidback Luke and Crookers. With it’s pitch-bended bleeps, glass shattering claps, and moombahton-esque breakdown, “Roman Bromanski” is a dutch house fan’s fever dream. With another winter in full swing, it’s nice to be reminded of last summer’s bottle service, bikinis and black outs – this one is destined to be a summer pool party favorite.
We were more than just a little upset when Skrillex collaborated with Korn for “Narcissistic Cannibal.” Thankfully, Sonny Moore completely redeemed himself when he teamed up with the Doors for the ground-breaking documentary “RE:GENERATION.”
The remaining Doors members; Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger and Jon Densmore, join the young producer in the studio for this behind the scenes look at their collaboration “Breakn’ a Sweat.” Delicately mixing the old school Doors rock sound and Skrillex’s electronic mayhem, this track represents the first new Doors release in the 21st century. As someone who grew up on classic rock, it is refreshing to see such legendary musicians back in the studio for the first time in over 10 years.
Did anyone else notice the name of the hotel at the beginning of the video? Kyoto.
