Following the trend of some other appreciative artists, Dutch DJ/Producer Nicky Romero offered up his own Yearmix to thank his fans us for continued support. The hour long mix is an anthology of Nicky’s works completed in 2011 and is a testament to the amazing year he had. Ranging from pulsing house tracks to bass throbbing dancefloor destroyers, Nicky Romero has the versatility and talent to go from being a “rising star” to a cemented kingpin in EDM. Check after the break for the full tracklist and download the mix tomorrow (on Nicky’s birthday).
Yesterday DA’s favorite Parisian DJ, Gregori Klosman, released his 8th installment of KLOSMAIA. The Year End mix features all of Klosman’s biggest tunes from 2011, including Kameha, Endless, Low Battery, and a slew of awesome remixes. Tracklist after the jump.

It is shaping up to be a huge year for Moguai. Not only is he launching his own radio show on SiriusXM, his upcoming album ‘Mpire’ drops on January 30th. To celebrate and promote this album, Moguai is performing eight massive shows within two weeks. With shows in Vegas, Miami and San Francisco, it is sure to be quite a tour. We definitely recommend experiencing the Moguai sound first hand if you happen to live near one of the cities on his tour.
“Airbuzz” is a funky tune from the King of funk – Koen Groeneveld. His last recent success was “Ditsjz,” which featured a wild drop along with a tech oriented bassline. This time around “Airbuzz” is a lot smoother than his previous productions, we envision this being used in more than a few opening sets. Let’s dive into the details below.
Stefano Noferini is the ultimate tech DJ, he rarely meanders outside the realm of that genre and has created numerous great tunes. His remix of “Airbuzz” is our favorite out of the package, and provides a thick bassline to get lost in. While there isn’t a big build up or a big drop, you can see how this is the perfect track to relax to.

When compared with Stefano’s rendition, Koen’s remix of his own tune is indefinitely darker. The bassline is juicy – you can liken it to a build up along the wavelength of Dada Life’s. This is borderline deep house.

Oliver Twizt certainly had a respectable 2011 with releases including his GO EP with Diplo and his remix of Sandro Silva’s “Get Lower.” While his previous tracks have ranged from electro house to dirty Dutch, Oliver’s latest work is straight nu disco. Set to release January 16th on Spinnin’ Records, “Love Trip” is as funky as it gets. Check out the preview and stay tuned for the full-length.
Despite having been in the biz for nearly 15 years, Steve Aoki has never released his own artist album. It’s only fair then that he’s going big for the January 10th release of his album Wonderland and the accompanying Dead Meat Tour; and he wants you to be a part of it all. In celebration of the tour, Aoki is inviting artists to design a t-shirt to be sold on the road, with the winning designer getting a slew of Aoki merch and a meet-and-greet with the bearded man himself. Think you’ve got what it takes? Click past the break for full details — designs are due January 24th.
Lost in all the hoopla that was SHM at MSG, was A-Trak’s sensational opening performance. Here’s the official video showcasing his word class skills and some behind the scene moments with Jacques Lu Cont and Swedish Hosue Mafia.
Interesting little side note. It appears A-Trak, who’s long been endorsed by Serato and served as a Beta tester, has made the switch from Scratch Live to Traktor. A bit of a shocker, no?
At Dancing Astronaut, we strive to bring you the latest and greatest in EDM news. But – full disclosure here – we don’t yet understand this bit of news at all. A chills-inducing, fairytale-like trailer for an “extrasensory dance event series” called The Cosmic Opera has just been posted to YouTube, along with a website that gives sparse information about the events it advertises. “Act One” is going down February 23rd and 24th, and the site offers a cryptic countdown. Despite all the drama surrounding Swedish House Mafia’seventteases, we can’t help but be intrigued by the captivating trailer and the sheer mystery of the whole thing. We’ll keep you posted as soon as we know more.
Last June, Insomniac Events set the standard against which dance music festivals in the United States will forever be measured. EDC 2011 was a revelation and an inspiration. It also made history as the largest dance event ever held on this continent.
The Electric Daisy Carnival will return to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Friday June 8th, Saturday June 9th, and Sunday June 10th 2012. While EDC is traditionally held on the final weekend of June, we’re hoping the earlier date will mean cooler temperatures in the scorching Nevada desert.
Three-day general admission ($229) and VIP ($500) tickets can be purchased through the EDC web site. Cost-conscious fans will be glad to hear that layaway tickets are also available. The layaway option allows you to split the ticket price into two, three, four, or five separate payments.
We hope to see you all there. This is the raver’s Christmas, and if you’re reading this post, you won’t want to miss it.
