We promised some treats when we hit 5,000 followers on Twitter and 10,000 Facebook Likes, and we here at Dancing Astronaut always keep to our word. As a thank you for being the most awesome readers on the Internet, we’ve secured a special bootleg pack from some of our favorite artists — and we’re giving it away for free. The pack includes a couple of tracks from Cazzette, Ken Loi, Michael Brun, Fareoh, Lazy Rich, and Michael Brun. Some of these are familiar, and some of them are new, but take it as a token of our appreciation for keeping us on top of our game.
UPDATE: Our photographers have assembled a killer image pack that’s great for backgrounds. Download it here. Photos by Skyler Greene, Andrew Spada, and Jacob Schulman.
Want an easy way to make sure you are up to date on all the latest, best music? Dancing Astronaut takes a look at the top 10 tracks of December based on a combination of reader feedback, track quality, editorial preference & critical reception.
2011 is finishing just as it began - exceptionally strong. Our top tracks of December list features some huge names including Dada Life, Swedish House Mafia & Chuckie. Click after the break for our full rundown on the 10 best tracks of December.
Maison & Dragen (formerly known as Marcus Maison & Will Dragen – their full names) create a rolling progressive hosue tune called “Rio De Janeiro.” This track uses a much deeper and tech oriented sound than their previous work that was usually very Avicii-esque. Rio is one of the craziest cities in the world to party in and we feel this track does the city justice. Maison & Dragen are primed for a big 2012 and were vastly underrated this past year, even though they had some big releases (think: “Excalibur” and “Digital Freedom“).

Hollywood-based electro duo Cold Blank got in the holiday spirit last week, releasing their “XMas Mixtape” as a free download just in time for the holidays. And even though it’s labeled for Christmas, that doesn’t mean we aren’t still enjoying it in the new year.
The hour-long mix features some of the year’s biggest electro house tracks, including Knife Party’s “Tourniquet” and Dada Life’s “Kick Out The Epic Motherf**ker,” as well as a couple Cold Blank remixes. If you are looking for a solid mix to kick off 2012, look no further.
We know you’re sad that we’re done announcing our 50 biggest tracks of 2011, but there’s one more surprise we can share to help it last a little longer. Dedicated DA reader Keith took the time to put together a Spotify playlist with our picks — and even though Spotify is missing five of them, we still think this is pretty awesome. We’ve always said that our readers are some of the best out there, and you guys never cease to amaze us with the amount of support and dedication you have. If you enjoy this playlist, be sure to thank Keith in the comments, and don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you ever want to get in touch.
Fareoh has been impressing us with his happy, upbeat releases (and free bootlegs), and he’s kicking off the New Year with more of his own melodic goodness. The appropriately-titled “2012 (Twenty Twelve)” feels like something perfect for a pool party, and has an Avicii sort of feel to it. There’s only an instrumental mix for now, but we’ve got a sneaking suspicion that’ll change. Got any ideas for good acapellas that could work in the meantime? Let us know in the comments, and grab the free download below.
We’ve been counting down our top 50 tracks of 2011, and we’re finally ready to reveal the most important ones: the top 10. 2011 was a year of big room house tracks for sure, but it’s impossible to overlook the different genres that also made a splash. Don’t forget to look back at all the previous tracks to see how we got here, but if you can’t wait any longer, click through for Dancing Astronaut’s Top 10 Tracks of 2011.
There was no shortage of awesome things to do last night to ring in the New Year, but the biggest party in New York had to be at Pier 94. Avicii, Arty, Cazzette, Swanky Tunes, and Glenn Morrison helped 10,000 people party through the night at the massive event space — but thankfully the sets are not lost forever. EDM Tunes has somehow secured sets from Arty, Avicii, and Cazzette, so everyone can re-live the action like they were there. To sum things up, Arty opened with “Trio” (which still has no release date), Cazzette played tons of new music (“Titanium” remix, anyone?), and Avicii… well, he’s Avicii. Download or stream all the sets below… they just might help your hangover.
We’ve already got yearmixes from the likes of Thomas Gold and Laidback Luke, but Hardwell is out with one of his own — and his has an hour-long video to go along with it. The flick has footage from countless Hardwell shows around the world in 2011, including EDC Las Vegas. Most of the music is Hardwell’s own, but when has that ever been a bad thing? If you were planning on raging at home to ring in 2012, this just might be the perfect soundtrack and video to help celebrate.
PS: Check out his 2010 Yearmix to see how far we’ve come.
Bart B More does it again, this time on a killer collaboration with TAI. The last time Bart and TAI had their names on the same track was when Bart remixed TAI’s ground shaker, Big Bass Drum. This time around they drop a reggae infused dance track that is as weird as it is catchy. See you all in 2012!
