Ken Loi was named a breakthrough producer of 2011 by Tiesto himself, so the expectations for him next year are already quite high. He’s closing out 2011 with a monster bootleg pack, filled with some of our favorite tracks of the year twisted and re-tooled into brand new beasts. The Tiesto-approved “Wonderwall 2Night” bootup is present here, as are countless other creations that you need to hear to understand. Grab the full pack over at Peace Love EDM and let us know your favorite in the comments!
R3hab is looking to finish the year on a high note, and he’s posted yet another preview to his Soundcloud before the 2011 closes out. His take on “Jello” from Far East Movement and Rye Rye offers hints of what’s in store for next year, with a much more hypnotic sound and even some dubsteppy elements. This track would feel right at home in a set from someone like Steve Aoki, and we can only imagine what it’ll be like to hear live. Of course R3hab doesn’t forget about his chainsaw roots, though he does cut off the drop in this two minute preview. Guess we’ll have to wait a bit longer to see what new chainsaws he’ll bring out in 2012.
In 2011, much of the EDM narrative revolved around one trio: The Swedish House Mafia. The SHM hype was inescapable, and much of it was justified.
But for all of SHM’s accomplishments, their 2011 paled in comparison to the monumental achievements of the mighty Above & Beyond. Sure, the print media (this publication included) paid more attention to SHM, but the A&B story was alive and well on social platforms — particularly the #TATW hashtag. This year, A&B released “Group Therapy (its second artist album), put together yet another breathtaking mix album — Anjunabeats Vol. 9, and celebrated the 400th episode of its weekly radio show, Trance Around the World.
The TATW 400 official video tells the touching story of one young Lebanese fan, Tony Sawma. The second-year college student is a Beirut resident who lived through the devastating bombings of 2006. In the video, Tony talks about war’s damage to Beirut’s physical and social condition, and how trance music is helping to heal those wounds.
The video culminates with Tony joining Above & Beyond on stage to drop the synth line to “Sun and Moon.” It epitomizes everything we know and love about the trance family.
We’ve been slowly revealing our Top 50s Artists of 2011, and we’re getting down to the wire: today’s crop of artists is, in a word, incredible. Click past the jump for the next ten artists on our list, and check back on 50-41, 40-31, and 30-21 if you missed them.
A day after coming out with his edit of Michael Brun’s “Dawn,” Hardwell teases us with his latest single “Spaceman.” This sounds a little different from his usual tunes such as “Munster” and “Encoded” due to the fact that it incorporates a thicker bassline and is much more electro based than we have come to expect from the King of Trouse. Those of you that remember January and February of this year – Hardwell owned those months in terms of releases. Considering “Spaceman” is set to release on January 23rd, we think he has the same type of plan in mind.
Released a few days ago on the Bingo Player’s label Hysteria, “Xtreme” is the type of high energy track we’ve come to expect from Ralvero. It starts off slow, teasing you with a subtle bass line and melodic synth but by the 3:00 minute mark there is no more room for subtlety. “Xtreme” has received early support from Tiesto on his “Club Life” radio show, and has also been dropped by Afrojack and Bobby Burns on “Jacked.” Like “Rambo” before it, expect this bomb to find it’s way into the sets of some of the world’s biggest DJs.

When we checked out Sensation White in Barcelona, we told you it was one of the most unique events we’ve ever been to. Well, we’ve got good news for those of you who can’t just hop on a plane to Europe: the festival will be making its way to America in 2012! The teaser above was uploaded to Sensation’s YouTube page a few days ago, and though it makes the event a little more overwhelming than exhilarating, we can assure you that this is one event you will not want to miss. The production at Sensation was one of the best we’ve ever seen, and it we’re fascinated to see where they’ll do it. The arena environment was really integral to the experience in Spain, and there are only so many similar venues in the States. Oh well, guess we’ll just kill the time watching YouTube videos until more is announced in March.
Only a month after Sebastian Krieg released a DA favorite named “Starchild,” he has come back with another progressive beauty. This time, Krieg teamed up with Danny Freakazoid and Strobe, who are both very skilled progressive guys. While Freakazoid and Strobe usually use darker melodies and synths, Sebastian Krieg delivers the more joyous piano build-up on “Room 300.” Similar to Michael Woods’s music, this track powerfully moves forward with the pitch rising to higher and higher notes as the drums keep rolling.

Just in time for Chrismukkah, mau5trap’s own Moguai releases “I CEE” for free via soundcloud for the next 24 hours! After the incredible success of “Lyve from Beta” and an epic tour that spanned 5 continents, 24 countries, and 114 cities it’s hard to imagine having a better year than his in 2011.
So how does Moguai plan to make 2012 more epic than 2011? That’s simple, just release a new album on mau5trap entitled “MPire” and kick off another huge tour starting in January!
Workaholic doesn’t even begin to describe this level of dedication and passion.
Check out this Vegas-inspired free bootleg Chuckie threw up on his Soundcloud last night. Chuckie takes a pretty standard hip-hop track and turns it into a dancefloor destroyer with a huge electro sound and massive drop. Chuckie’s transition between the hard electro and uplifting synths in the middle of the track are a testament to why we feel he is one of the best artists in the game.
