R3hab has an XS and Surrender remix series going, out of respect for the two places he performs when in the city of Sin. Just in case you weren’t able to check our facebook page yesterday – R3hab released his “Im In The House” remix for free on his soundcloud yesterday. Pretty good Christmas present huh? Look for more of the same chainsaw and craziness that has become the standard in all of Fadil’s stuff, look for this to be dropped at your next R3hab event – he is among the best performers we have ever seen.
Here is a Christmas present for all dubstep lovers out there. As a precursor to his upcoming 2012 album, Rusko has decided to give away a collection of his remixes from 2006-2010. The collection includes all officially released remixes as well as a bunch of unreleased and unmastered remixes. There are some really cool tracks in this collection that we have never heard before and is a must download. We’ve included a sample below. Check out the full tracklist after the break.

This is Lana Del Rey‘s second appearance on Dancing Astronaut. As Cazzette‘s dubsteppy remix of “Video Games” was such a big hit with our readers, we have decided to bring you a preview of Gemini‘s upcoming remix of Lana’s next single “Born To Die.” At only 21 years of age, the British dubstep producer has already made waves with his remix of Kelis’ “Brave.” Stay on the lookout for more from this young and very talented producer. “Born To Die” will be out with remixes on January 22nd.
Paris FZ & Simo T are clearly trying to end 2011 with a bang. We have seen the Montreal based duo’s rising success begin with “Monk” off of Hardwell’s Revealed, and continue with their contest winning remix to Tiesto’s “Work Hard, Play Hard.” Listening to the preview of their latest original “Aura,” featuring the reputable Mark Mendes, solidifies our expectations that these two youngsters are rising EDM stars. The piano chords and euphoric synths are embellished with faster paced dazzling sounds that make the track that much more pleasing to listen to. The track will be released December 28th on Mark Mendes’s own Starter Records.
It’s been a while since Kim Fai has released anything – think “Zen”/”Nano” off of Toolroom Records and his huge club remix of Above & Beyond’s “Sun & Moon.” Making up for the lack of productions, for the holidays Kim Fai has released his newest track “L.I.C” as a free download. Kim’s progressive style is at its best on this track. Powerful piano instrumentals lead the track into a array of electronic strings and upbeat driving synths that work perfectly with big rooms. As the popularity of progressive house is peaking all over the EDM world, we hope that Kim Fai hops back on track because we all know what he is capable of.
Zedd has been cooking up some more fire for us in his laboratories ever since the release of his sexy single “Stars Come Out.” “Slam The Door” features some great piano riffs and a nice melodic build up; everything seems normal until the drop hits. Did it drop you on your ass? Was this video one hell of a tease? Will we be all over this for you on January 3rd when it releases on Skrillex’s label OWLSA? Your answer should have been ‘yes’ to all three of these questions. We don’t know how exactly to describe the drop in words – so we are just going to take a page out of R3hab’s book and call it ‘chainsaw madness.’ However, this time around the chainsaw comes fully equipped with a jet engine – enough power to crush the eardrums of every person inside of a stadium.
If you don’t like bikini clad women (some aren’t even wearing bikinis) please do not click play. That being said – looks like Kazantip is one hell of a party (2012′s Kazantip will take place from July 20th – August 26th). What could be better than a huge music festival fully equipped with world famous DJs and a beach (it’s on the edge of the Black Sea)? The intro is mixed by Swanky Tunes and Hard Rock Sofa who happen to be the premier Russians in the house music scene today. Do you think an astronaut take over of this festival is in order?
SmarterChild (Rick Markowitz) was featured on our Stargazers column in November and has been climbing up the charts rapidly since that time period. He brings us his rendition (alongside Oxymorron) of the Gym Class Heroes’ “Ass Back Home.” This mellow progressive remix adds a club feel to the original mix and the chopped up vocals towards the end of the tune gives us a little added flavor to the chorus. Talent never goes unnoticed by Dancing Astronaut, and SmarterChild just oozes with it.
It was a little over a year ago that Sonny Moore independently released the My Name is Skrillex EP for free. In the months that followed, the EDM landscape was permanently changed. Millions of newcomers were drawn to his unique sound, rock-like stage presence, and bad haircut. Love him or hate him, Skrillex has shown time and again that his production skills are impeccable, his energy unmatched, and his artistic vision inspiring.
The Bangrang EP is 7 track collection of eclectic, genre-bending productions. While not as impressive as Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites, this EP is just the sort of heavy-hitting, yet melodic, fare we’ve come to expect out of this young producer. With incredible collaborations alongside Wolfgang Gartner, Kill The Noise, 12th Planet, and The Doors (not to mention the insanely addictive title track) Skrillex has once again proven that he is at the top of his game. As his sound continues to evolve and grow we can’t wait to see what he has in store for 2012. But we just have one question, where are “Voltage” and “True Gangsters?”
Remember “Dancin” from the summer of 2005? It may seem like a ton of time has passed since the original release, but artisans such as Laidback Luke and Mark Knight have been dropping the acapella version of this tune in their live sets forever. Luke uses his trademark electro chords to create an official remix that is sure to keep you bouncing around for months to come. We feel that the trumpet is one of the most underused sounds in the game today, however, Luke mastered the instrument like no other. Check back for the release on January 19th (which is a day to mark on your calendar – just in case you are a release junkie like we are) it will be available exclusively on Beatport.
