Jus Jack and Oza have teamed for “The Mess,” a track with sweeping synth progressions and dark undertones that has already hit the top 100 on the Beatport progressive charts. The track has seen support from Tiesto on his Club Life podcast, and its electro-tinged breakdown jives quite nicely with the trend of hard-hitting club tracks we’ve been digging lately. A ticking clock in the background will help make this one that much more intoxicating, and it’s the kind of track we could definitely imagine hearing at a place like Pacha NYC into the very late hours of the night — or early hours of the morning, depending on how you look at it. It’s available on Beatport through Moda Records right now.

Alex Gaudino and Jason Rooney have combined forces to create many remixes in the past. This time around they remix OTC’s “The Year Of The Cat,” they fuse a nice piano build up with a pulsing drop that takes this tune to a whole new level. Alex Gaudino has walked the fine line between pop and house in the recent years, but we commend him for reeling his talents back in and producing a progressive remix. “The Year Of The Cat” should be part of your next weekend playlist, it’ll definitely get you in the mood for some prime-time raging.

We have been agonizing for the past week over how to bring you our top tracks of Winter Music Conference, and we ultimately decided that it was simply too hard to “rank” our picks and instead are leaving it up to you. We’ve gathered a list of our top tracks played during Miami’s WMC and Ultra Music festival — the songs that shook crowds at Ultra and caused mayhem at the various pool parties in South Beach — and have presented them for you below. While you’ll inevitably be familiar with many of the selections, we believe you’ll be even more familiar with them by the time 2012 is through. So, without further ado, we present to you the biggest tracks of Winter Music Conference and Ultra Music Festival 2012.

“Chainsaw Showers” is the instrumental version of R3hab’s remix of LMFAO’s “Champagne Showers.” Fadil has elected to give this away for free as a celebration for reaching 120k Facebook fans, needless to say, R3hab loves celebrating (he released another gift after reaching 110k fans). Keep on the lookout for his brand new collaboration alongside Afrojack — those guys loved tearing it up together in Miami. His remix of “Calling” alongside the Russian gang of Swanky Tunes is also a must listen. There are big things in tow for Fadil, the question is, can you keep up with all of them?

If there’s any one trend we’ve noticed from Miami Music Week, it’s that avid EDM enthusiasts are embracing a harder sound than in the past. Luckily for us there was no shortage of artists who fit that bill — and Hardwell’s set at Ultra was just right. Unfortunately we didn’t get to see Zedd who owned the Main Stage before Hardwell took the stage at 3:20PM, but as soon as we arrived the entire space sprung to life.

Spin The Vote is a new joint effort from Insomniac and Rock the Vote to facilitate young voter registration at Insomniac’s various events. A first successful trial run went down at Beyond Wonderland in Southern California just a few weeks ago, and it will be returning to all of Insomniac’s events throughout 2012. You can use your smartphone to register, and locations will be marked on the event maps. Last election Rock the Vote helped register 2.5 million young adults, and hopefully this upcoming election they will do even better.

We know that if you are anything like us, you’re Sundays are spent sitting in the dark of your apartment, bleary-eyed and broken and the last thing you want to hear is some whomping bass. Truth be told, Aspirin isn’t going to help that headache, instead let this Moonlight Matters remix of “Anna” ease your pain. We like to think of a hangover as a job well done — so go ahead, pat yourself on the back and let Charlotte Gainsbourg’s charming vocals interspersed with Moonlight Matters ambient synths cure that pesky Sunday morning hangover.
Shortly after XS Las Vegas and Encore Beach Club/Surrender went live with their star studded lineups, Tryst announced it’s equally as impressive schedule for Memorial Day Weekend. Skrillex, Afrojack, Alesso, and Lil Jon all make appearances each night. No matter which club you go to, it’s a can’t miss event. Many big DJs are pinned against each other, so the question really is — what club do you want to be at? (Purchase tickets by clicking on the artist name)
Thursday, May 24th: Alesso
Friday, May 25th: Afrojack
Saturday, May 26th: Skrillex
Sunday, May 27th: Lil Jon
The mix starts out with a sound clip from Pinky and the Brain, “The same thing we do every night Pinky, try to take over the world” — TheFatRat is poised to do just that. It’s first blip on our collective radar was when we heard it’s “Next Levels” remix that completely transformed Avicii’s transcendent original. TheFatRat sound is something that is hard to define, it’s productions are intricate and multi-layered with an indiscernible something that makes them stick in your head for days. TheFatRat really flexes it’s talents on this hour long mix. Give it a listen and you’ll be a believer too but don’t forget to like it on Facebook to download the mix for free.
What is TheFatRat you ask? We aren’t quite sure, but after this mix we are infected by it.
