Mark Mendes gives us an action packed tech house tune that would impress even the finest of tech DJs (think: Funkagenda, Mark Knight). “Telos” has been supported by Swedish House Mafia member Steve Angello and has recently been released on Starter Records. You may recognize Mark’s sound a little from his remix of Prok & Fitch’s “Cabala”, he has previously been featured on world famous record labels such as Subliminal and Toolroom. Give this one a try – the bassline should blow you away.

Almost a year ago, Mikael Weermets released his memorable remix to Erik Morillo and Markus Binapfl’s track “Alive.” This time, the savvy Swede has teamed up with Audible, and Camilla Brinck who delivers rapturous vocals to go along with the groovy beat. At the 2:00 mark, “Something About You” drops with graceful uplifting electro chords. Just when you think the track has leveled off, one minute later Weermets and Audible deliver their second drop with countless heart pounding drums, that simultaneously incorporate the soulful melody of the track. Mikael’s classy and particular style has set him up perfectly for his debut album coming out soon, which will readily capture the attention of House music fans and DJs globally. “True Emotion” is a progressive tune that straddles the edge between dark and powerful. The drums provide a heavy dose of adrenaline that suits a club environment perfectly. Hard Rock Sofa (along with Swanky Tunes) have really coined their own sweeping bassline sound that incorporates light sounding background synths with their trademark powerful pulsing tune. The engineering of their tracks are really next level stuff. Look for these gang of Russians to make huge dents in the house world over the next few months.

As our Electric Zoo 2011 coverage finally comes to a close, we’ve crossed our Ts and dotted our Is in an attempt to leave no stone unturned (or as few as is humanly possible – turning stones is hard work). As R3hab continues his busy North American Tour of Summer 2011, he made time to tease us with a new remix he premiered at his Las Vegas tour destinations XS and Surrender night clubs. Just as everyone was crediting Nicky Romero with the one and only exceptional remix to Guetta’s “Without You,” R3hab released a colossal preview just to remind us all how he has not slowed down one bit. Including Usher’s satisfactory vocals from the original mix, R3hab transforms the track to make the vocals sound that much more animate and alive! Mastering the craft of melodic electro synths, bleeps, pounding drums, and tons of white noise, R3hab has managed to create that same authentic and robust sound on his remix of “Without You,” that all of us at Dancing Astronaut continue to love him for. As the remix is set to release September 20th on David Guetta’s F*** Me I’m Famous imprint, R3hab is remaining at the top of his game and dedicatedly pleasing EDM fans around the world.
We thought we did a decent job of filling you in on Steve Angello and Thomas Gold when they came to Governors Island a few weeks ago, but now there’s a recap posted to back yo our words. This awesomely entertaining video follows Thomas from New York down to Miami, where he performed poolside at the Fontainebleu the following day. In case you were wondering, yes, Thomas Gold is still the man.
Alesso gives us a sneak peek into his latest creation after his massive release “Calling” alongside Sebastian Ingrosso. This remix is the opposite of what we have come to expect from Alesso, his previous releases (think: “Pressure” remix, “Save The World” remix) have all been very uplifting to say the least. However, Alesso unleashes his ‘darkside’ with his rendition of “River Flows In You” by Jasper Forks. We love the array of skills Alesso possesses and hope to see him dive into multiple genres in the near future!

The original mix was the definition of ‘spiritual’, it blended melodious trance synths with short piano riffs. Swedish DJ Otto Knows gives us an action packed remix that is much harder hitting. The distortions in the background are pleasant addition to the sweeping bassline. It is a tough task for anyone to remix such a prevalent tune, but Otto delivered a solid rendition. Be sure to grab Otto Knows’ remix of “Hide & Seek” which he was nice enough to give away as a free download earlier this year!

You guys may remember the instrumental mix of “Hi Scandinavia!” created by Matisse & Sadko. The high pitched synths and pulsing bassline really made this track a club anthem and put Matisse & Sadko on the map. “We’re Not Alone” is the vocal version of “Hi Scandinavia!” equipped with the house friendly vocals of Ollie James. His work on Nervo’s “Irresistible” was amazing and we are glad to see his name pop up yet again. Click play and indulge yourself in greatness.
