It looks like the Leona Lewis / Avicii drama isn’t over yet, and we’re starting to find out a bit more about what happens next. We’ve just learned that Avicii’s camp has sent an official cease and desist letter to SyCo demanding that Leona’s track be pulled immediately. Well-established forensic musicologist Peter Oxendale was brought in to scientifically analyze the eerily similar tracks, and though we don’t have the actual statement yet, it appears to give Avicii’s camp some tangible legal footing in the matter. For what it’s worth, some quick Googling reveals that Oxendale has written over 1,800 reports for copyright issues over the years, so if nothing else, bringing in a big wig like him could help Avicii’s plight and show Syco that this is not a matter being taken lightly. Sony Music and Leona’s people have still not returned any of our requests for comment, but we’ll definitely keep you updated as we learn more.
Update: We’ve just received more on the situation, and this is not an official C&D, but rather a preliminary warning to Syco from Avicii and Ministry of Sound. We’ll have to see what comes of it, and whether the record giant will finally break its silence on the matter and come clean with its side of the story. We’ve updated the post’s headline to reflect this.
The 4th annual Hard Summer Music Festival is returning to Los Angeles this year with a lineup that is not only breathtaking, but arguably one of the better music festivals being held in California this summer. The festival will be taking place in downtown LA at the State Historic Park on August 6th, with doors opening around 5pm and the music running from around 6pm through 2am.Other than Insomniac, HARD’s production team is prominent and tends to throw a party you will not want to miss. In all there will be 4 stages consisting of 20+ international Dj’s including Duck Sauce, Boys Noize, Chromeo, Skrillex, Ratatat, & more. There’s a range of different genres to entertain fans of all types of Edm from House, Electro, Rock, Disco, Dubstep and Moombahton.
Alesso’s remix is so good that they made the official music video with his remix instead of the original mix. If that doesn’t speak volumes of somebody’s talents, we really don’t know what does. When you watch this video you’ll realize that Nadia Ali is unreal. Not only is she arguably the most prominent female vocalist in the EDM world — she’s also smoking hot. Fellas, when you watch this video make sure to catch your jaw when it drops, but remember to keep your paws off – we spotted her first!
Dayglow Tour is one of those EDM events that you simply have to experience to understand, and if you can’t yet say you’ve had the pleasure of attending one, you should pay attention to the next few sentences. The self-proclaimed “world’s largest paint party” has announced a massive 25 city tour for “Blu,” starting in Syracuse on September 2nd, and running all the way through October 29th where it wraps up in Tuscon. We should mention that this is all just part of phase 1, which means there’s probably a lot more paint to look foward to. Headline acts haven’t yet been announced, but hopefully The Devil from Acapulco will bring his a-game to at least a few of the dates. Tickets go on sale tomorrow (July 25), so be sure to head over to the link below and get buying — can’t say we didn’t tell you.
The Swedish DJ’s have put themselves on the forefront of the house nation. Their production skills are unmatched, but it’s their live performances that truly set them apart. Alesso is the newest talent to join the Swede forces, and based on his previous work and talent he deserves to be in the mix with the biggest and brightest stars of our genre. Ingrosso and Alesso join together to create “Calling” a blend of uplifting synths and that goosebump creating big room sound — that we were first teased with virally by Ingrosso before experiencing it live at Pacha NYC. This reminds us a lot of Tiesto & Marcel Woods’ anthem “Don’t Ditch.” Click play and get wrapped in the glory!
Thanks to B@TV everyone had the opportunity to catch some of the headliners’ sets from the Tomorrowland festival yesterday. Not only was the lineup immaculate, but from our viewing experience (or maybe we should say sexperience?) we thought many of the DJ’s brought out their A game. You can download a few of the live sets below to keep yourselves entertained for hours and relive the experience many times over.
Marco Lys’ “Go” allows Prok & Fitch to deliver us a tune that has the perfect ebbs and flows that we have come to love from quality tech house tracks. The horns combined with the tribal drums add some spice to the perfectly coordinated bassline. Not only is this a danceable house track, it is also perfect noise for a party that has already breached normal levels of alcohol consumption. Everyone wins with this playing in the background! Can we give this the tech house anthem label?

UPDATE: Marco Lys – Go (Original Mix)
Marco Lys gives us a smooth tech house original that has a very spiritual sounding bassline. Things start to heat up right after the 5 minute mark as the thumping synths make way for some quality action.

Marco Lys – Go (LA Riots & Nom De Strip Remix)
This is a fast paced remix when compared to the Prok & Fitch and the original mixes. The dark quality surrounding the build up switches things up a bit, but still allows you to keep your head bobbing throughout its entirety.

Cazzette is back at its dubby-steppy ways, this time offering up a take on a track that already had a nearly perfect remix in our opinion. We’ve heard Adele get mashed up in too many ways to count, but there’s something about this “Set Fire To The Rain” bootleg that had our heads bobbing before we could say ‘Thomas Gold.’ This release returns to the well balanced electro house blend of the amazing “Save The World” bootleg we brought you exclusively, adding a way more pronounced bassline and some well-timed roll effects in the chorus. We were even able to pull some strings to bring you guys the track as a completely free download. Be sure to check out the SoundCloud preview, and hit the link below to get your download on!
Bass Kleph and Chris Arnott make up the new tandem called BKCA, if you did not notice those happen to be their artist initials. The Austrialian based duo have come up with “We Feel The Love” a pleasant and easy to listen to melody that is infectious when shared with friends. N-joy this in the car, at a club, or by the poolside.

Tech and progressive fans – look no further than Prok & Fitch’s remix. Not only does it have that lounge feel, but it makes you feel relaxed while listening to it. Play this in any set and see the ear to ear smiles from everyone in the crowd.
